As a company, we believe in healthcare for everyone everywhere. We have created a new category of pharmaceuticals – Digital Medicines – to measure medication treatment effectiveness and help physicians improve patient outcomes. Together, with leading health systems and pharmaceutical companies, we’re bringing this new digital solution to healthcare providers, thereby increasing access to better insight, optimized therapies and lower costs.
Mission: We integrate medicines with mobile technology – via our ingestible sensor – to make healthcare more accessible, manageable and innovative. We believe that by providing the right technology to individuals who deliver and receive healthcare, we can build a more effective healthcare system with new care paradigms focused on daily care and new information-based business models.
The ingestible sensor is technology you swallow. It’s made entirely of ingredients found in food and activated upon ingestion. You take it alongside your medications, capturing the exact time of ingestion.
Your body powers the ingestible sensor. With no battery and no antenna, your stomach fluids complete the power source and your body transmits the unique number generated by the sensor.
The patch captures and relays your body’s physiologic responses and behaviors. It receives information from the ingestible sensor, detects heart rate, activity, and rest, and sends information to your mobile device.
Using a Bluetooth-enabled device – like the one you already carry in your pocket or purse – you can access secure applications that display your data in context and support care in a variety of different ways.
We provide our employees with a great benefits package, which includes: medical/dental/vision insurance, 401K, paid time off (PTO), paid Family & Medical Leave for eligible employees, company holidays and your birthday off. Perks include access to the onsite fitness center and a variety of snacks in both offices.
I have been working at Proteus Digital Health full-time (More than a year)
The digital medicine product is right out of a Sci-Fi novel, and the recent FDA approval is a big deal to the future of the company. Great people, and broad mix of smart technology old-timers, and fresh young faces too. Still small enough to make an impact in your own way on the success of the company, and plenty to learn since all of this is brand new.
I've referred two friends here and one is now working here.
Some of the onsite snacks are a bit too healthy to be tasty, and parking near the building is impossible if you arrive after 9am (additional parking is available, but not as convenient).
There are also a lot of three letter acronyms (TLA's) to get used to in the first months on board - but not really a big deal.
Advice to Management
Continue improving communication between the two locations (Hayward and Redwood City), and keep doing the all-hands meetings and public recognitions to highlight employee milestones and achievements. Finally, don't fall into the same traps other start-ups do: scale too quickly, lose focus of who the customer is, and reward bad behaviors with promotions or rewards.
I applied online. I interviewed at Proteus Digital Health in June 2017.
The interview process was swift, upfront and transparent, thoughtful, and appropriately challenging. The HR contact made the process even better by giving me insightful tips prior to each round.
Essentially, I submitted via Glassdoor soon after the posting went up and received an email a day later requesting a phone screening. During that initial screening, the HR rep outlined what the process would look like if I was selected to progress through each round. This was great, as it let me know upfront what to expect.
Over the course of a couple weeks, I had three phone/Zoom interviews, followed by a day of onsite interviews. The HR rep was excellent as providing feedback after each interview, and the next step was scheduled promptly.
Throughout the process, what stood out was what a great group of people work at Proteus. Everyone asked thoughtful questions, made sure to give me an opportunity to ask questions, was respectful, and genuinely seemed to like one another.
This is how every interview process should be!
