I have been working at Providence School District full-time (More than 10 years)
Providence Spends extensive amounts of time and money to train its employees.
Every year some schools close and employees must interview for other positions within the system. There is also an unequal distribution of resources- new and refurbished schools get everything while older schools deteriorate. Most schools are considered non-performing.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Providence School District.
There is an initial intake interview. You must also be fingerprinted and receive a background check. Once that process is complete you attend a meeting and are required to shadow a crossing guard until you are comfortable enough to take on your own area.
