    Pros

Purpose has a talent for bringing together the best people–– the best in the business and also just great people. That, coupled with getting to work on some of the most important issues of our time, makes Purpose a great place to work. Purpose puts stellar work out into the world––the kinds of campaigns you end up being really proud to have worked on. Getting to work on social movements as your day job is definitely an enviable position to be in (as friends and family will tell you) and leaves you with a real sense of accomplishment. Overall, Purpose is definitely on the rise- has made great progress from an organizational/ management front and continues to grow–– very excited for what Purpose can do over the next few years.

    Cons

Purpose works on serious issues, which can get tough. Purpose faces some of the constraints of smaller orgs in the social good sector, like working with limited resources, but the focus on process is improving this greatly.

    Advice to Management

Keep on the the current trajectory––continue putting effort into supporting staff and improving internal processes as you have been, and Purpose will stay on the rise.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Purpose.

    Interview

Phone interview with contract recruiter and then on-site interview with two senior members of the creative staff. The phone interview was traditional and conservative, with standard walk me through your resume questions. The second in person interview was with two of their head creative people. My interview was boring and they seemed to contribute little to the discussion.

    Interview Questions

    • They didn't have many questions at all and mostly I led the interview. I think they asked if I cared about activism and what it was. They seemed distracted and thanked me for my time about 11 times. I asked about the bad reviews and they said they were valid, meaning they got rid of a lot of people who were intelligent and did their job effectively. My interview was informal and it seemed pro forma, like they wanted to see people pro forma, but already decided otherwise. Currently they use contract copy and were considering hiring someone on staff. I never had the opportunity to actually write for the exercise which was supposedly coming next.   Answer Question
    • Was I interested in activism and what I done so far.   Answer Question
