Mission: The Quill.com Promise:
We understand the importance of having a trusted partner who’s always looking out for you. That’s why we dedicate each and every day to providing the best service possible to you, our customer.
Quill.com has been a Chicagoland business since 1956 and currently offers our customers an assortment of more than 1,000,000 products so they can find exactly what they need—no matter what business they're in. We sell over $1.2 billion in products across technology, cleaning & breakroom supplies, business furniture, medical supplies, safety products and general office supplies. Even as an eCommerce company, we still understand the vital importance of customer service. Our central promise is to do whatever it takes to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.
In 1998, Quill.com proudly became part of Staples, Inc., careful to maintain our original small company feel while adding the benefits and support of a major corporation. More than 500+ associates now work in our Lincolnshire headquarters, located 40 minutes north of Chicago just off I-94.
Quill has evolved from a single-employee business (that employee being Quill’s founder, Jack Miller) on the Northside of Chicago into the 4th largest e-tailer in the world (combined with Staples), delivering products to customers all across the US. And while we are proud of all that we have accomplished, we still want to expand and look for new opportunities in the ever-changing marketplace. It all starts with our customer-centric, friendly employees who are committed to our cultures and values.
Peek into a conference room, ride along in a delivery truck, or listen in on a phone call, and you’ll see what makes Quill special: integrity, teamwork and endless enthusiasm for serving our customers. We have the power of Staples behind our brand, but still have that small company feel that allows our associates to make fast paced, high-impact decisions. We are one team that works hard for our customers, all across the globe. And we do it with honesty, collaboration and friendship. At Quill, every associate has a chance to shine.
Our values were created with guidance and input from thousands of associates, and they drive our interactions with customers and each other. They represent what matters most at Quill and are critical to bringing our vision to life. We live them every day.
Diversity & Inclusion
We believe that differences in background and thinking style allow us to be more innovative as a company. We’re committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive culture, from supporting associate resource groups to partnering with diversity suppliers.
Employee Groups & Mentoring
Meaningful working relationships, whether they are associate-driven organizations like our associate resource groups or one-to-one mentorships, offer our associates an opportunity to network, support one another, bring greater awareness to diversity and inclusion issues, and grow both professionally and personally.
Quill.com believes that it's vitally important to make positive contributions to our surrounding communities, and we want our associates to have the opportunity to make positive impacts throughout Chicagoland. That’s why we give our employees the chance to take the day off to volunteer for the local community. From filling up backpacks for children in need to organizing a book collection drive, our associates drive positive change all around them.
We want to give our employees every opportunity to shape their community so we plan blood drives, bring your dog to work days, and fundraising raffles to make participation as easy as possible. We also love suggestions, so if our associates are passionate about a particular cause, we make it our mission to set up a Quill volunteering event. Our goal is not just to help our neighbors in need but to define what we are as a company: compassionate, positive and caring.
At Quill, we want employees to know that their hard work and dedication pays off. We offer comprehensive, flexible benefits that help our associates and their dependents manage their health and well-being.
Onsite Corporate Amenities
I have been working at Quill full-time (More than 5 years)
The People, management, co-workers and the environment are great. Benefits are standard for the industry.
Too much mirroring of Staples and the Staples influence. Quill is very strong leadership on down..But Staples is awful and the pay could be better.
Advice to Management
Continue to focus on people development and try to stay and independent of Staples as possible.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Quill.
I talked to the company at my school's career fair. They told me I got an interview, it was a single 30 minute interview at the head quarters in Lincolnshire with my manager. Questions were pretty general behavior questions. He asked about my experience with programs I would be using
