Mission: To restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in care, education, research and advocacy.
Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego is a nonprofit, 524-bed pediatric-care facility dedicated to excellence in care, research and teaching:
Parents and children come to Rady Children’s from across the country to see our nationally renowned physicians, and our focus on research, teaching and innovation is helping our patients to receive state-of-the-art care.
We believe equally in keeping children well. Through our Center for Healthier Communities and the Chadwick Center for Children and Families, we offer families the promise of a healthier future.
We will be a leader, recognized nationally and internationally, for excellence in patient care, education, research and advocacy.
Rady Children’s is a place where everyone CARES about everyone else. We not only dedicate ourselves to our patients and their families, but to each and every employee, physician and volunteer. It’s all about how we can make things better for those around us.
Caring is our service promise of excellence and reflects our CARES values:
Since Rady Children’s first opened its doors in 1954, our mission has been “to restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in care, education, research and advocacy." We want each and every child who comes through our doors to have the chance to thrive.
Our staff is the heart of what we do and part of our Rady Children's family. Through numerous learning opportunities and specializing training, we strive to have the highest skilled employees, who provide care with sensitivity and compassion. It's what our kids and families deserve.
"Our department is comprised of genuine, resourceful and compassionate individuals. We are each committed to the goal of supporting the community, patients and families that walk through Rady Children’s doors. Having such a collaborative and caring group of co-workers is one of the reasons I enjoy coming to work each morning!"

Rady Children’s Institute for Genomic Medicine was founded as a non-profit organization in 2014 through a transformational pledge of $120 million from Ernest and Evelyn Rady.
Located on the campus of Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center in San Diego, the Rady Clinical Genome Center is a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited, genomics laboratory. The Genome Center incorporates both state-of-the-art infrastructure and expertise to provide rapid Whole Genome Sequencing (rWGS) to aid in the diagnosis of children with rare genetic disease.
To maximize the information that rWGS can provide, the Rady Clinical Genome Center (RCGC) works closely with the ordering physicians during the entire testing process to ensure the most timely and robust results. At RCGC, our services do not end with a list of variants or even just a molecular diagnosis. We provide clinicians with phenotype-driven analysis targeted not only to aid in diagnosis, but to offer insight into disease-specific interventions and help guide the care of their most fragile patients.
Ten years ago, Rady Children's Hospital officially partnered with Fresh Start Surgical Gifts on their life-changing work. Nothing would be possible without the time and talents of the many volunteers! The Fresh Start Program provides disadvantaged children the best possible care right here in San Diego.
Through this partnership, reconstructive surgery and other medical services are provided at the Fresh Start Clinic at Rady Children’s by a volunteer team of surgeons and medical professionals from the Hospital.
Reconstructive surgery is provided to infants, children and teens with physical deformities caused by birth defects, accidents, abuse or disease. Every child receives the highest quality medical care, regardless of the family’s ability to pay.
