"Rain Bird hires the best."

The Intelligent Use of Water

Work that matters to the world. Rain Bird's core function is working with water, efficiently and effectively. Rain Bird is not just an irrigation market leader, but a company that champions The Intelligent Use of Water. Does your work impact the world for the better? Does your work improve the lives of your community today and tomorrow? If you want to do more with your work, come to Rain Bird.

Today, Rain Bird and our partners in the irrigation and water management industries are in a unique position to make a difference during this time of water crisis. By working together, we can make it easier for everyone to significantly reduce their outdoor water use while still enjoying the many benefits that green spaces have to offer. Rain Bird will continue to develop products and initiatives that will help our customers make responsible, informed choices about the ways we all use water. By taking advantage of intelligent watering products and practices today, we can usher in a new era of water efficiency and sustainable water use that will preserve this precious resource for generations to come.

At Rain Bird, we’ve always believed that it’s our responsibility to develop products, services, and technologies that use water efficiently. From yards, parks and sports fields to farms, greenhouses and golf courses – if we all keep working together we can continue to enjoy the benefits of irrigation while ensuring that water is available for generations to come.

Why come to Rain Bird?

At Rain Bird, we not only develop great products to make the world greener, but we also develop great people in sales, marketing, finance, engineering, manufacturing, and human resources careers. We hire high-caliber, high-potential employees who are looking for the chance to grow and make a difference on the job and in the world around us.

"One of the things that attracted me to Rain Bird was the opportunity to use all of my skills across a number of different areas. As an engineer for a large automotive company, for example, chances are you're going to focus on just one component like the brake pedal or the seat. Here at Rain Bird, we design all kinds of things from injection molded plastic parts and springs to machine parts and stampings of metal-formed parts. We have to marry up with electronics all the time." Matt Prucinsky, Engineering Manager

"Rain Bird’s lean multifunctional structure lets us work across several teams and projects. We all cover a lot of areas and that's what I like.  When I first came the Rain Bird, I worked on extrusion technology and plastics for the sprays division. I knew nothing about plastics molding until I came here – I‘m an electrical engineer! But here I was throwing water and doing something I had never done before!  I’ve learned a lot more than I probably would have learned if I'd stayed at the other company. The breadth of disciplines here is really exciting for an engineer." Randy Montgomery, Engineering Manager

Our employees consistently cite these reasons they enjoy working here:

  • Advocating for water conservation and taking care of our natural resources
  • Challenging work opportunities in engineering, sales, marketing and operations
  • Excellent career growth and advancement on a global level
  • Excellent compensation and benefits programs
  • Bright, enthusiastic and motivated people
  • Employees are trusted and given autonomy
  • Team orientation with a positive work environment

Whether you are interested in a job in manufacturing, engineering, operations, distribution, sales, marketing, finance, or human resources, a career at Rain Bird is something you would find very rewarding!

I have been working at Rain Bird full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

While they run a "pretty lean ship", this means that you have a lot of latitude to operate within your area of responsibility. Not a lot of oversight and/or micro-managing with a premium put on getting results within the context of the company culture (e.g getting results but not at the sacrifice of compliance or integrity).

    Cons

If you require a lot of direction in your day-to-day work OR are not used to a fast-paced get results climate, this would not be a good place for you.

    Sr Project Engineer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Tucson, AZ
    No Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Rain Bird (Tucson, AZ) in February 2009.

    Interview

Long interview process and with many people. No specifics were asked about talent and skills. It seemed mostly the interest was around personality and corporate behavior. I was surprised to learn that the term "Lean" was of no interest to the company nor of "cost savings or optimization". It seemed to go in line with the reviews I find here at Glassdoor that development of new ideas or optimization is disregarded and instead it is management's direction and no other. I was also surprised to hear about the employee performance "ranking" evaluation method where a "lower performing" employee would seem to be "discarded" even though the ranking method would not define such an employee a bad performing one since they are not measured against company or department goals.
I may be wrong, but after the many interviews (and I really mean many...) all seemed to follow the same pattern.
