my day begins

A day in the life of a Recruiter at Randstad starts out in our office with a daily morning meeting to assess needs and progress on the book of business generated by our account managers.

Starts out internally with all resources provided by Randstad. I am able to process direct applies that are done on our website and through outside vendors, which filter into our site and provide us with a competitive advantage. I then spend the rest of my day searching for and cold calling our candidates. 


 finding the perfect fit

 My job is to provide our account managers with competitive candidates  in order to generate future business and continually grow. In my  opinion, this industry is best described by the analogy “marathon not a  sprint.” The best part about this job is the direct correlation between the  effort and time put in, and your personal results.

what will the day bring?

A day in the life of a Staffing Consultant at Randstad is a dynamic thing. Though we don’t always know where the day will take us, we know it will be comprised of sales, service and recruiting. Each day brings something new, from opportunities to problem solving how I will work though obstacles to the rich rewards that follow hard work.

 The win comes in many different forms: telling someone who has been  unemployed and overlooked in today’s market that he or she has secured  a job, gaining an appointment with a prospect I thought would never agree  to meet with me or winning a client I have been calling on for months.

In this role, I get to know these customers. I am a detective, probing beyond the surface information I am given to find out what is truly important to both parties. I look for nuance, and these intangibles are how I make the truer fit between our talent and clients. I actively recruit and screen the best candidates in my market to keep my pipeline full.

On the client side, I work to grow our market share with active and new clients and to provide exceptional service. I develop relationships with my clients, earn their trust, and gain their business. If I have not yet gained their business, I have the opportunity to be creative, assisted by the wonderful tools provided by our marketing team.

A day in the life can be varied, but I typically try to focus on a core group of fundamental activities each day to bring success. Since my position is geared towards selling services that Randstad offers, my first daily goal is to find ways to create opportunities with new clients.

Being a successful account manager can be done in a variety of ways, and Randstad has amazing tools to help.  The most basic is setting aside time to call or visit companies with whom we are interested in doing business. Ultimately, I am here to create opportunities and drive revenue.

I want to know how Randstad can help

I try to narrow down the companies by their hiring needs and the type of industry they are in so I can specialize, and really hone in on servicing them well. After I am able to create new clients, I focus time on current business.

I set time aside each day to visit my clients, meet with managers who have hiring needs, and follow up with people we have put to work. This is very rewarding as I get to see the results of my efforts first hand and foster a stronger relationship between Randstad and our customers.

    The recruitment teams are very helpful and supportive.
    Lots of clients across various technologies and domains all over the USA.

    I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Randstad US.

    Interview

    Managers here have no formal leadership training, and therefore do not understand what traits they should be looking for to fill this role.

    Their best performing staff largely have no IT backgrounds yet they keep asking about it like it's a real prerequisite.

    Instead they should be interviewing/testing questions geared toward whether or not an individual is DETAIL ORIENTED. That is the most important trait and it's constantly lopped onto the interview questions.

    They also hire individuals with zero previous work experience, have foul body odor, and have no work ethic nor understand workplace social norms. Anchors are then expected to train these indidcuals as if they're competent for the job / have any hope of being good at it.
