Redwood Logistics – Why Work For Us?

Redwood Logistics, formerly Transportation Solutions Enterprises, underwent a rebranding effort in January of 2015 to better position the companies for future growth. The Redwood family of companies now includes Redwood Multimodal, a freight brokerage company; Redwood Supply Chain Solutions, a technology powered freight management company; Redwood Distribution, a warehousing and freight forwarding company; and Freight Exchange of North America, a Redwood Company, an asset-based full truckload, dry van carrier.

Today, the Redwood family of companies employs over 300 people, operates across multiple states and is slated to move and manage over $500 million in freight in 2015.

A full-service transportation brokerage specializing in moving freight throughout North America, backed by our vast carrier network and our ability to handle the difficult freight.

As an asset-based truckload company, Freight Exchange of North America provides critical capacity solutions to a diverse cross section of customers. From our cross-border expertise in Texas to team based, expedited solutions in Southern California – F/X delivers.

Redwood Distribution is an asset-based warehouse and distribution company that specializes in fast-turn, value-added supply chain solutions for the complex Southern California and Chicagoland markets.

Redwood Supply Chain Solutions uses sophisticated technology, flexible outsourced freight management and deep supply chain expertise to help middle-market companies excel in their competitive landscape.

Transportation Solutions Enterprises is now Redwood Logistics. Our family of companies offer the same industry-leading logistics and transportation solutions that you’ve grown to expect over the past 14 years. And now, our companies all carry the Redwood name. It’s all part of our commitment to provide our customers with the strategically integrated logistics solutions they need to deliver results.

The name Redwood represents our family of companies’ solid, interconnected roots. The Redwood Family of companies includes Redwood Multimodal, Redwood Supply Chain Solutions, Redwood Distribution and Freight Exchange of North America, a Redwood Logistics Company.

Carol Stream, IL

The Carol Stream office environment is one of “work hard/play hard.” It is casual and fun, but that doesn’t mean we don’t push ourselves – it’s a high performance atmosphere. There’s nothing you’re asked to do that management wouldn’t be willing to do themselves. No shrinking violets here—if you can hold your own and work hard without micro-management, you’ll fit in. Also, ample parking.

Columbus, OH

The culture in Columbus centers on its team. There are no cubicles or barriers between the desks to encourage open communication. Personal goals are a team effort. Centrally located downtown, the Columbus branch is within short distance to popular neighborhoods including the Short North and German Village. Plus, it’s a lot of fun!

Dallas, TX

Our Dallas branch is located between Addison and Midtown right off the Dallas North Tollway with ample parking. One word describes our branch: team. Our culture centers around our common goals and our people work together to ensure our collective success. And we like to have fun, too. We believe that if we spend 40 hours a week together, we’d better enjoy it! Part of that fun is personal growth. Redwood Dallas focuses on growing professionals that make an impact in our business and our community.

Detroit, MI (Troy)

Redwood Michigan launched in November 2012; the second branch office of Redwood Multimodal.  The office is conveniently located in Troy just steps away from Somerset Mall and downtown Birmingham.  We mirror the fun and energetic atmosphere of Redwood’s Chicago headquarters, where on any given day an impromptu Golden Tee match or dart tournament could break out after a hardworking morning of exceeding our customers’ expectations.  Teamwork is paramount to our success and we work closely with each other to foster individual and branch growth day in and day out.  There is never a dull or boring day at Redwood Michigan!

Shreveport, LA

The Shreveport Branch is comprised of three industry experts (and growing!) with over 45 years combined experience working to establish Redwood as the leader in our sales region. Traditions are strong in Louisiana, and the tradition of winning is one that we enjoy for both our branch and the larger Redwood network.  Crazy good food, unforgettable fun, and the Fighting Tigers are major themes of our state, city, and branch culture. We always have a good time while making sure we are the best at what we do every day. Laissez les bons temps rouler and Geaux Tigers!

Southern California (Fontana)

Located in the heart of the Inland Empire, the SoCal office enjoys daily sunshine through our ceiling to floor windows and the notoriety of being Redwood’s first established Branch outside of Chicago. We truly take a SoCal attitude in everything we do, committed to working hard and doing layups to let off steam. Operating through an open floor plan helps guarantee that no opportunities are missed and communication stays flowing – we are proud of the open door policy Redwood promotes. Best part? The beach is only an hour away.

St. Louis, MO

In the STL office, every voice is heard. We provide an open platform for ideas and creativity to be shared, in turn, it generates hard work, dedication and positive results. Come join a fun filled, outgoing team, in a city that produces winners!

I have been working at Redwood Logistics full-time (Less than a year)

    Great boss
    Relaxed environment
    HR willing to help
    Work aligns with my experience
I feel my contributions are valued

Traffic on the drive in from suburbs a challenge

    Advice to Management

Please leave the environment relaxed like it is—it makes me look forward to days I am not working remote. Also for anyone reading negative reviews, I doubt those writing them have worked elsewhere. Redwood is nirvana by comparison, and I count myself lucky to be there. If you are not afraid of working hard and doing your job, you would be lucky to work at Redwood. HR has been both responsive and patient with my many questions and needs, much more so than I’ve seen at previous employers. My boss is terrific—incredibly smart and many steps ahead in my opinion, knowing where all the balls he keeps up in the air are headed. He has been both flexible and understanding, and I know he has a ton on his plate but he makes time when I have questions. The people there are 99% pleasant and helpful—to say 100% would suggest that everyone is always in a position to help, and that seems not the case for all. But most are young and energetic and seem motivated to do their jobs well. I saw where one person complained about the location—not close enough to the blue line and not enough parking. Well it’s in the city, where parking is at a premium, and if you don’t like it get there earlier. I have no trouble with parking—and work with people who take the train in from the suburbs without issue. So it seems that is a matter of perspective—-I personally like the location and understand why it is where it is located.

Bottom line, in my opinion, if you have the chance to work at Redwood, do it!

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Redwood Logistics (Chicago, IL) in January 2016.

We sat with various team members to get an idea of the job duties and culture of the office. The office is very lively with music playing to keep the energy levels up. Everyone in the office is fun and young.
