Unless you are in the management "click" you quickly become isolated and unwelcome. HR works with conflict management but unless you are a troubled employee you can go years without a single inquire as to how you are doing. Sr. management takes no effort in building up its middle management personnel and takes a sink or swim attitude.
Advice to Management
Take the time to have personal one-on-one conversations with your middle management employees to see how they feel about their position. One of the major points of Sr. management is to build a culture of partnership, not tearing one down. Feeling your manager is trying to build you up goes a long way in establishing loyalty.
