This week's Remitly offsite in Nicaragua undoubtedly left a lasting impact on our global People Team. The event provided a platform for fostering strong relationships, exchanging ideas, and inspiring personal and professional growth. These activities not only added a touch of excitement but also allowed employees to appreciate the rich heritage of Managua and foster a sense of global awareness. The offsite featured various cultural experiences, such as traditional dance performances, culinary delights, and visits to historical landmarks. We're just getting started! #WJGS

As we wrapped up April and kicked off May, big THANKS to all our Remitly teammates who made time to volunteer in local communities around the world throughout the month of April for Global Giving Month and Earth Day! Shout out to Food Lifeline and One Tree Planted for hosting us for two Seattle based events during the month! #globalgiving #volunteering #givingback #earthday #climateaction #csr #esg

Interview
After a recruiting email that got lost in the shuffle—things happen—I was offered a technical interview: a leet code problem and two values-based questions at the end. Two folks from Remitly watched as I coded an issue. One left halfway through the interview to go to another meeting. No values questions were asked. I was told at the end of the interview that the recruiter would reach out to me shortly with feedback.
It's been about two months since this interview and I have not heard any feedback—not even a rejection email. My application status has not changed on their job board.
For a company so verbally passionate about their values, they sure don't act the part. They didn't: deliver on promises, sweat the details, have a bias for action, continually improve (just read the comments to see this is a recurring issue), or be constructively direct. With all this combined, they certainly didn't earn my trust through integrity.
Value and culture are not words on a website—it's how you treat people.InterviewI was not asked any interview questions. I was only presented with a coding problem and asked to complete it.
