Diversity & Inclusion at Remote

Diversity Programs & Initiatives

Here's the entry on diversity and inclusion in our handbook. These are not mere words - we live by it.

Encouraging diversity and inclusion

We want to build a diverse team. Diverse teams perform better, and are a better reflection of our world. Being a remote company should make this much easier. We are to set the bar really high, as an example to all other companies.

  1. Customer Service Representative Interview

    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Remote (Tegucigalpa) in Jul 2022

The first interview was on a Friday and it was quite easy and hassle-free. I chose a date to do my interview and the recruiter was pretty nice. My interview though was scheduled for 30 minutes and it went over an hour, as the recruiter spent most of the time upselling the company. It is good to put your company in a positive light, but I found it weird that it was being overdone to that extent.

Approximately halfway through the interview, I was told the interview was successful and that I would be moved on to the next interview. During my interview, I made it very clear that I was interested in a non-voice position (email/chat), although I had already listed it in the application. The first interviewer advised that this was perfectly fine as they will always tailor you to a client for what your needs are. He advised that he would send me an email with some additional documents and that my second interview would be on the following Monday. On Saturday I sent the interviewer a message on Skype reminding them to send the documents and also noted that I am aware it is a weekend and therefore would look for a response on Monday. I got no response on Monday. In the evening, I sent the interviewer another message and got no response. I had to reach out to someone on their Facebook page who then reached out to the interviewer. The interviewer sent me a message saying he would add me to a group and we will do the interviews in order.

The entire Monday passed and the second interviewer did not reach out regarding an interview. The Tuesday morning she reached out and when I indicated that I was ready, I waited over 30 minutes before she called on Skype.

When she called on Skype, she said she saw that I applied for the customer service position, but that they don't have any customer service positions available, and proceeded to offer me a sales position. I indicated that I applied for customer service, as this was what was advertised and she said customer service positions will not be available for a very long time. Needless to say, I declined the offer.

I believe they advertise intentionally for customer service knowing they will get a lot of applications and then in the interview try to have you accept a sales position.

My overall experience was not great. They appear quite unprofessional, tardy, dismissive, and egotistical and don't seem to live up to the values that they are braggadocios about.

They asked about my experience and what I do for my current company.
