I worked at Renaissance Hotels full-time (More than a year)
I believed I worked there 2011 but it does not allow me to add this year. Scott Williams at Patriot Place (Foxboro) is a phenomenal manager who is fair, great personality, hands on manager who you will gain so much knowledge from and he truly cares. Met great employees, room for advancement all over the world, pay is pretty good for the hotel industry and the room discounts are a huge bonus. Very busy during peak times so you won't be bored often and pretty flexible with time off if they are able to except event days. However, they did shorter shifts occasionally on those days. You will have a blast and meet so many people. It is amazing experience if you haven't tried the hotel industry. Great teamwork.
Slow season is pretty rough and make the days drag on so ask mgmt for anything to keep you busy. Follow up on making sure checklist's are done. pre check in's, special request's in am so it is much smoother for pm shift. Especially during slow time's employees seem to overlook.
Advice to Management
Keep Scott Williams on as long as you can as he makes a huge impact on everything at the hotel and/or promote him/give raise as he deserves this more than anyone I know. Restaurant at the time required more efficiency and structure, management, menu etc changed to often. Have employees fill out anonymous survey's unless they want to add there name on recommended improvements, frustration's on areas that need to be improved etc.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Renaissance Hotels (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in May 2016.
Easy process. Be personable and relatable but still maintain a level of professionalism during the interview. Having experience is a plus but not necessarily needed, because I believe personality is key.
