Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

  1. Sales Representative Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Chandler, AZ
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Difficult Interview
    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at ReputationDefender (Chandler, AZ) in May 2022

    Interview

3 rounds, first two went very well. Enough to get me to a third round. That's where I clearly was not their choice from the start.
Pitch their product to them on a cold call, with no training, any idea what scenario they will present you will. It turned out my scenario was a pissed off Indian guy who wouldn't engage. Any time discovery was attempted he would answer with "i dunno, i'm just calling for my boss." "You'd have to ask my boss that" "No my boss is never available that's why i'm calling." Never once answered the question. They gave me the assignment the day of the interview, and the span of the interviews was 3 days. So to learn the product knowledge I would need to ask questions to get this potential prospect to engage were mixed together online with their amazing terrible reviews about how they stole money and didn't actually provide any service to their clients.
Seeing hundreds of reviews about a company that is supposed to clean up negative online activity, all of which say the same thing "Took my money, promised something, never delivered." You can look those claims up online and they are accurate, people paid this company to bury articles on google that still remain the top listing. How in the world would I change my mentality from reading that to anything resembling wanting to sell a mystery pitch for a job at this company?
    Interview

They actually gave me a scenario of "Why is it a good thing to have a positive internet presence" "you will be meeting with Dr. Nguyen and another person that you don't have the name for" and "they want to know how we can help." When the call started, Dr. Nguyen wasn't on the call, and the person wouldn't give me his name. This was set up for failure from the start. Affirmative action style.
