Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

Pros

I had a great time learning from some top-tier developers, and made some great friends and connections.

Cons

Passion and drive sometimes exceeded team capacity. This was over a year ago, and I have heard great things since.

    I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Reward (London, England) in Oct 2022

    Interview

    I saw the role on LinkedIn, and contacted the recruiter - had an initial Teams interview with the hiring manager which was an overview of my experience and competency based questions lasting an hour. I had to request a follow up session because I had no opportunity to ask questions, and that was useful. Feedback from the recruiter was positive and I was asked to prepare a case study for the next stage. Following on from that (also a Teams interview lasting an hour), and despite following up with the recruiter, I received no further feedback. I appreciate a company may not want to go through to final stage with a candidate, or circumstances change but to hear absolutely nothing is both disappointing and unprofessional.
