Rolls-Royce – Why Work For Us?

What we do

Rolls-Royce is a global company providing highly-efficient integrated power and propulsion solutions. Our power systems are predominantly used in aerospace, marine, energy and off-highway applications.

We are one of the world’s leading producers of aero engines for large civil aircraft and corporate jets. We are the second largest provider of defence aero engines in the world. Rolls-Royce is well established in the marine sector where we design vessels and integrate power systems. We have a growing presence in civil nuclear power, drawing on our skills and experience of over 50 years in powering nuclear submarines. Our MTU brand is world-renowned in high-speed diesel engines powering applications as diverse as rail locomotives and luxury yachts.

We support our customers through a worldwide network of offices, manufacturing and service facilities.

Vision: ‘better power for a changing world’

Better power
helping our customers do more, using less

Better future
committed to innovation, powering better, cleaner growth

Better business
investing in technology, people and ideas to improve all aspects of our performance

Our vision is to create better power for a changing world. To do this, we need the skill, passion and innovation of our 50,000 people across the globe and many more like them. To develop this vision into a reality, we need people like you who want to help shape the future of global power.

INNOVATION IS IN OUR DNA

We’re known the world over for delivering engineering excellence. We create the world’s most eco-friendly ships, power nuclear submarines and enable land-speed records. We’ve developed the world’s most efficient aero-engine and supported NASA earth science missions on the edge of space. Across the globe, our 15,500 engineers apply their intellect and experience to improve the performance of our products and continually redefine what’s possible.

Engineering

Our 15,500-strong team of world-class engineers design, develop and refine our products, from market-leading jet engines to submarine propulsion systems, advanced ship designs and marine power systems.

Committed to our promise of being ‘trusted to deliver excellence’, they apply their intellect and experience across a range of disciplines in an environment that is curious, challenging, open-minded and able to change with pace.

Innovation is key to our competitive edge. To ensure we stay ahead of the curve we have an Engineering Fellowship of more than 150 engineers who provide outstanding leadership and technical expertise to our most complex challenges. We also have a global network of 31 University Technology Centres, working with more than 700 academics in fundamental research, applying this to cutting-edge products and redefining what’s possible.

Manufacturing

Our manufacturing engineers are the people who bring ideas to life and their skills ensure we can build the power solutions we design.

They're responsible for developing state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and acquiring new capabilities, IT systems, people, factories and machinery.

Crucial to this is our network of seven Advanced Manufacturing Research Centres (five within UK), which are being established to deliver best-in-class capability across all areas of manufacturing technology. It’s the development of manufacturing technology that underpins our remarkable capability to continuously develop advanced solutions.

BE REWARDED BY US

We want you to be both inspired and rewarded by the work you do for us.

We offer a range of benefits and rewards that reflects our status as a leading global employer. These vary depending on your location and your role, but can include things like share plans, pensions and healthcare. We also work hard to create an environment where business objectives and job requirements are clear, so everyone is rewarded both for their personal contribution and the overall success of our business.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Rolls-Royce (Indianapolis, IN) in January 2017.

    Interview

All over the phone. Pretty relaxed. First interview was with HR, the second was with the actual hiring managers. It was all over the phone as well. Over all, pretty easy going interview process.

    Interview Questions

    • 1st round- more behavioral questions than anything. Know current events effects Rolls Royce.
2nd round- more casual. Less behavioral, more about the position and accounting based questions. Along with relevant experience.
