Ryan Homes – Why Work For Us?

Since 1948, we’ve grown from a small, family-run business to become one of the top five homebuilders in the country. While there are many reasons for our success, they all revolve around three key factors: our commitment to customers, our consistent quality, and our personalized approach.

Passionate Commitment

We have an unwavering commitment to building. Not just building new homes, but building trust. Relationships. Peace of mind. We are both knowledgeable and passionate about every aspect of what we do, and we do all we can to communicate that knowledge and passion to homebuyers. We know how important your new home is to you; that’s why each home we build is so important to us.

Impeccable Quality

Perhaps the most important difference is our homes themselves. One step inside a Ryan home gives a first impression of quality. But Ryan quality goes much deeper. Each home we build goes through a series of quality inspections by our subcontractors and our project managers, followed by a final Quality Assurance Inspection by an independent third party. That’s why 98 percent of our buyers say they would recommend Ryan Homes to family and friends. We’ve been building top-quality new homes for over sixty years now, and all that experience shows in each new home we build.

Individual Attention

We guide each customer throughout the entire homebuilding process, from well before construction begins until long after move-in day. And having an in-house mortgage company, NVR Mortgage, enables us to offer comprehensive, personalized financing programs. Customers who choose NVR Mortgage enjoy competitive rates and a financing process that’s simplified, streamlined, and customized to suit their specific needs.

Where you live is our life's work.

Home is where the heart is—yours and ours. Our passion—and our purpose—is making places people love to call home.

What began in 1948 as a small, family-run business in Pittsburgh has evolved into one of the top five home builders in the nation. Today, Ryan Homes builds new homes in twenty-seven metropolitan areas in fourteen states and the District of Columbia. We're a proud member of the NVR family, a distinguished group that also includes NVHomes, Fox Ridge Homes, and NVR Mortgage.

What is the secret of our success? There are several: unparalleled customer service, innovative designs, quality construction, affordable prices, and desirable communities in prime locations. Not to mention our industry-leading comprehensive warranty coverage and customer care after move-in. It's no coincidence that customer referrals are responsible for a large percentage of our home sales. First-time buyer, move-up buyer, empty nester—buyers of all ages and stages of life can find exactly what they are looking for in a Ryan home.

Trust and support is the framework of our culture.

In numerous surveys and reviews, our employees tell us we're an exceptional place to work. Here are a few of the reasons why:

  • Career paths with promotional and professional development opportunities
  • Teamwork, respect among fellow employees
  • Empowered, autonomous work culture
  • High degree of responsibility, even in early employment
  • Company culture based on consistent training for new hires and professionals

We build where people want to live—and work.

You’ll find our homebuilding operations in more than 27 metropolitan areas throughout 14 states and the District of Columbia, including Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

We’re a leader in more than homebuilding.

Commitment to quality and our customers has made us a leader in the homebuilding industry. It's also contributed to our industry-leading position in the following areas:

  • Profitability
  • Return on capital
  • Inventory turns
  • Interest coverage
  • Debt to capital ratio
  • Debt to EBITDA

Our experience counts.

We have some of the most experienced managers and executive officers in the industry. In fact, members of our leadership team have been with us for 20 years or more. And the average tenure of our top 200 managers is 15 years. But it’s not just their longevity that’s impressive—it’s their quality. According to Zelman & Associates, NVR’s local management was ranked the best in the industry in 2012.

We've built a strong house.

Wall Street analysts consistently rank NVR as one of the most financially stable publicly held companies in the U.S. We’re also one of the most profitable homebuilders in the country-and the only publicly held homebuilder to remain profitable during the recent economic downturn.

In our case, big means better.

NVR is a Top 5 U.S. Homebuilder and a leading Fortune 1000 company. We've built nearly 400,000 new homes since we began in 1948. The quality we've built into all those homes is a pretty big deal, too. It's earned us respect in the industry and the respect of our customers, as well. In fact, 98% of the people who buy our homes say they'd recommend us to family and friends.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Ryan Homes (Cleveland, OH).

I originally applied to Ryan Homes after talking to a few of their current production managers and supervisors at my college's career fair. I was told to go on their website and review the available openings and apply. The application wasn't too bad and I decided to apply to positions in a could different cities. After a couple months of corresponding with a hiring manager for Ryan Homes I came to find out that the positions available online aren't necessarily available. They just allow people to apply even if there isn't an openning and they aren't looking to hire. I was called in to interview for a couple positions only to find out during the interview that there were not openings available. After about 4 months of this I was asked to interview for a city that I had not applied for. I did and was called back for a second round interview. Everyone involved in this whole process was super nice and helpful and I honestly enjoyed the process for the most part, but their job boards on their website need a serious overhaul.
