Editorial Opportunities

Platts’ Editorial team looks for people who have broad sets of experiences, backgrounds, and approaches. Retirement Benefits

McGraw Hill Financial's retirement benefits necessarily vary depending on your country of work.

For U.S. employees, some of the basics are:

401(k) Savings. The company will contribute an amount equal to 100% of the first 6% of Eligible Pay you contribute each pay period as tax-deferred contributions.* Eligible employees may invest up to 25% of their eligible pay up to the IRS contribution limit of $17,500 for 2013.

Profit Sharing. The Company may contribute to your retirement income through discretionary profit sharing contributions.

Employee Stock Purchase. Employees may purchase common stock of McGraw Hill Financial through a payroll deduction plan, with no brokerage or commission fees to the employee. 

*These updates do not apply to the Standard and Poor's 401(k) Savings and Profit Sharing Plan for Represented Employees, which covers Guild employees.

Paid and Unpaid Time off

All full-time employees are granted paid vacations depending on the length of their service. Holidays depend on the country and business unit, but most U.S. business units observe New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Thanksgiving Friday, and Christmas Day. Employees are also eligible to take three floating holidays throughout the year for religious observances, dependent care, vacation, or to meet other time-off needs.

    Not a cutthroat environment, managers and subject matter experts are approachable and open to chat. Great space to learn about energy commodities and do a deep dive in to a commodity of interest.


    Daily tasks become monotonous quickly

    Resources across teams are not always distributed well, meaning price reporters on different teams have tremendously different workloads and experiences. also the technology hurdles faced everyday become laborious at times.

    I applied online. I interviewed at S&P Global Platts (Houston, TX) in May 2019.


    I applied for the role in April. I was invited for a video screen a few days later. I was given 1 chance to answer 5-6 questions. One month later, I was invited to have a video interview and an in-person interview at the office. Upon my arrival to the office, I learned my interviewer was unwell and did not notify any other employee to interview me. I waited in the lobby for a while. 2 other employees who didn't seem to know much about the position interviewed me instead. They asked basic interview questions. A few days later, I learned I would not be moving forward to the next round.
