SDI – Why Work For Us?

undefined

Welcome to big-picture MRO.
SDI is the Supply Chain As-a-Service provider that takes the bigger view of the MRO supply chain. For 45 years, we’ve demonstrated value by demonstrating to our clients how the supply chain works best when the supply chain works together. Lower costs, smarter inventories and increased performance are all natural results from a more connected, coordinated and optimized MRO process.

Way beyond piece price.
For many companies, a holistic approach to MRO is a totally new approach. Piece-price savings have been driving decisions for decades – despite inevitable runaway costs, obsolete inventories and rising administrative costs. This fragmented approach, with multiple departments and conflicting agendas, creates an environment with no central accountability, no enterprise-wide visibility, and no consistency.

A common vision of success.
When every aspect of the MRO supply chain works in unison, with coordinated actions, a common data set, and a broader goal of avoiding point solutions, quick fixes and short-term savings, operational efficiency becomes noticeable, measurable – and remarkable.

SDI at a glance.

  • Flexible service package options - choose Enterprise MRO, the fully integrated, end-to-end process; FlexMRO, the build-operate-transfer model; or plug in to any component of the value chain with MRO As-a-Service.
  • Implementation process identifies and categorizes ALL parts
  • Best-in-Class Storeroom Operations benchmark tool and processes
  • Continuous Improvement program for year-over-year savings
  • Rooted in Six Sigma philosophy
  • One single technology platform across the entire MRO enterprise
  • Complete bar-coded storeroom
  • Optimized Procurement and Issuing processes
  • Improved Inventory Management and utilization
  • Visibility across your entire enterprise
  • Compliance and consistency across the enterprise
  • Significant reduction in downtime incidents and other maintenance issues
  • Detailed KPI’s and informational reporting
  • Enhanced customer service to trades people and all stakeholders
  • Improved employee productivity
  • Significant ROI in year one

We are a Lean Six Sigma organization. Our people are trained to think about how to make the MRO process the most efficient, eliminating waste and improving outcomes. I have been working at SDI full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

SDI is listening to customers and taking the steps to expand its offering to meet customer needs. The growth in 2016 has certainly led to new challenges, and those that want to be part of a dynamic environment are experiencing professional growth and reward.

    Cons

Obviously, growth and reward can come with long hours and high levels of responsibility. If you are looking for a simple '9 to 5', with your work day scripted and routine, this isn't the place for you. However, if you are willing to put in the effort when it is needed, SDI rewards its hard workers with record levels of internal promotions and opportunity,

    Advice to Management

Keep focused on growing the business while still attending to our existing customers. Continue on the path of rewarding those that take on responsibility and show dedication to SDI.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at SDI (Bristol, PA) in April 2016.

    Interview

My interview with SDI was a phone interview. It started as a friendly conversation and then dove into more specific questions about my resume. Some of the questions asked were a little odd, and more than what I expected for a phone interview. It sounded as if SDI was searching for someone with a little more experience instead of a "soon to be college graduate" and looking to fill the position sooner rather than later. The conversation lasted about 30 min. I was told my resume and information would be passed on to the management team and I would hear back within the week. I unfortunately did not hear anything back.
