I worked at SUMISHO COMPUTER SYSTEMS (USA) full-time (More than 3 years)
The company culture is fairly Japanese, since this is a subsidiary of SCSK Japan. A strong advantage is that, as a Sumitomo Group company, it is not a sales-based organization and is fairly stable financially. There is good job security and a very comfortable atmosphere with very professional and friendly staff. Their benefits package is extremely competitive. For those comfortable with a Japanese business culture and who either prefer or don't mind Japanese spoken in the workplace, this will be a very comfortable company to work for.
Following the Japanese business model, decision making is sometimes slow with a quicker implementation process. Also, although benefits are mostly covered by the company with a very good employer:employee share ratio, their base salary may not be as competitive within the market. There is a bonus policy though.
For those unfamiliar or uncomfortable with Japanese business culture or language, this may not be the best fit.
Advice to Management
Do a better job marketing total compensation. Also, expatriate senior management must be very careful about maintaining a consistent company culture and employee experience with planned leadership changes occurring regularly.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SUMISHO COMPUTER SYSTEMS (USA) (Singapore (Singapore)) in May 2012.
Fast, need to ask to repeat because they speak English with heavy japanese accent which I am not used to and there is a panel of 3 people. After that there is 2nd interview by another group of people. Again please prepare to try to ask them if you are not sure what they are asking
