    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Sacramento County Sheriff.

    Interview

They only hire intermittently, every few years as they county allows. Must turn in initial application, then get assigned a testing date, take test, get a certain score or higher, then you may be invited to fill out and submit supplementary application for background investigation. near the end of the investigation (if you pass that far), you will be scheduled for a background interview and lie detector test, after that (days-weeks) you may be contacted and scheduled for a psych evaluation, then a medical evaluation. After passing these, you will be contacted for a divisional interview. They are sometimes one or two to one, and sometimes done as a panel. If you pass *that* as well, you may be offered a job. The process takes anywhere from 3 months to 2 years, depending on the needs of the department and staffing ability to process your application.

    Interview Questions

    • You will be asked largely questions regarding ethics and resource allocation - ie "If you caught a co-worker taking money from an envelope intended for the collection of cookie sales, what would you do?" and "If you receive a call regarding a man breaking into a house and a call regarding a fight in the street, but you only have enough officers to respond to one call, where do you send them?   1 Answer

    Negotiation

Negotiated hiring above starting step due to prior experience/professional certification
