Mission: Our mission is to be an innovative force in the interior design industry while preserving centuries-old traditions in all categories of rugs and home décor. As a member of the Sustainable Home Furnishings Council, Safavieh supports green design and manufacturing ...
In the past thirty years Safavieh has come a long way from an artisan family business to a high tech corporation with very sophisticated operations in terms of manufacturing and distribution. We’ve grown from one showroom on Madison Avenue to become an international player with two million square feet of warehouse space and our own manufacturing facilities on three continents. We now drop-ship thousands of packages daily to end-use customers on behalf of our retailers in all 50 states, plus Canada, South America, Europe and Asia.
Within the home furnishings industry, Safavieh is most successful in combining the best of high tech and high touch. We’ve always been considered the authority on fine quality, craftsmanship and style. We’ve kept that focus as we grew our logistics and warehousing capabilities, leading to strong partnerships with the largest retailers in the country. We serve every channel of distribution, from big box stores to multi-unit chains to designer showrooms with the right products and price points to build their businesses.
Since Safavieh’s inception in 1914, consumer education has been our core philosophy. Informed customers and our commitment to quality have helped us become the world’s finest weaver of luxury rugs. That commitment has been rewarded with numerous industry accolades and recognition by America’s top designers and architects.
Safavieh began as a supplier of antique Oriental rugs to leading interior designers. We continue to curate one of the country’s finest collections of antique rugs from the great weaving centers of the world, and to work with notable style leaders globally. As a result, our archives are limitless.
We study fabric, color and lifestyle trends two to three years before developing a new collection in our New York design studios. Cycles often begin in the fashion world before filtering to products for the home, so we look for trends in couture clothing and color forecasts as well.
Safavieh creates its designer-quality rugs in the major rug weaving centers of the world: Persia, India, Tibet, Nepal, China and Pakistan. We have the unique ability to produce each Safavieh rug in the region best-suited to each particular design. Although our artisans are scattered far and wide, they are all equally talented. But each country, city and village has its own time-honored techniques and special look – qualities we incorporate into our designs.
Based in the United States since 1978, Safavieh combines rug and home furnishings showrooms with a varied wholesale business, supplied by its own production lines from the classical rug weaving centers of the world. The company is headquartered in Port Washington, New York. Permanent showrooms are open year round in Atlanta, Las Vegas and High Point, NC.
Safavieh began its licensing program in 2006 with Thomas O’Brien, a longtime customer whose taste we had admired for decades. In 2007, we successfully introduced a highly anticipated Martha Stewart Rugs collection. In 2009 we launched Safavieh Couture, a licensing program with renowned designers including Jamie Drake, David Easton, Suzanne Kasler and Thom Filicia. January 2011 marked the introduction of the coveted Ralph Lauren and Lauren Ralph Lauren rug collections by Safavieh.
The uniqueness and beauty of Safavieh’s own programmed collections have been acknowledged with the America’s Magnificent Carpets Awards, and our unparalleled service has been recognized with awards such as the Home Decorators Collection Vendor of the Year.
At Safavieh we provide our customers with immediate delivery on over 3000 programmed designs — each in more than 8 sizes and in several color schemes. All are in stock, ready to be shipped at short notice anywhere in the world. We pride ourselves on our reliability in stock position and shipping. In an age of high tech, we have achieved the unique distinction of combining state of the art operations with ages-old standards of quality and craftsmanship.

Great opportunity for career development! As a millennial I’ve always had the desire to succeed in my place of employment and this company has given me all the necessary tools to do so. I have gained and continue to gain knowledge and on-the-job experiences every step of the way. The only advice is to be driven by the work you do, regardless of how tedious and repetitive it might seem, every position and everyone in this company is equally important and valued by upper management.
Great atmosphere and friendly co-workers
Health Benefits and 401K
No nearby public transportation, but the company does have a shuttle.
I applied online. I interviewed at Safavieh LLC (Stamford, CT) in September 2017.
I met with the store manager at Stamford, CT. She was a lovely person and had been with them for many years. I studied interior design and worked for a design firm and saw this posting and applied. The job was an interior design/sales person and you salary is basic and your expected to earn on top of that with commission. I estimated that if I hit my targets that it would only put me in 50K, max 60K range. The other hiccup that I had is that if your new to the team, regardless of years of experience, you are expected to work weekends for the first 3 months. Along with that and low salary and the question mark of what the real salary could be as commission can vary so much, I declined the offer. I liked store manager and I met the owner as well, all were lovely. I could see where they needed help as the Stamford store is a bit overwhelming in terms of styling and room sets.
