    Pros

A large department with many opportunities. The academy training is great but you will receive very little on going training.

The shifts are usually staffed to minimums and backup is close.

The department has an award winning Canine unit.

It is a big city with big city crime, you can keep busy with good quality arrests.

    Cons

You will get no support from the chief and administration. The department is run by a politician. Police work is being replaced with social services.

Equipment is old but serviceable. SPPD drives it's squads to 130,000 miles. Rifles are old military surplus.

    Advice to Management

Support your officers. Don't be swayed by public perception. Think of something more important than yourself.
