I have been working at Samaritan's Purse full-time
Religious based organization that espouses the values of integrity and work ethics even as it serves in conflict areas with a lot of challenges
Its salaries are not competitive hence unable to attract highly skilled individuals
Advice to Management
There's is great need to improve salaries and also entrench systems. Structures are also not well defined and interns are made managers of people who have tremendous experience thus demoralizing staff. There is also very little training for local staff in order to prepare them for future succession
I applied online. I interviewed at Samaritan's Purse in May 2017.
The listing had been posted for 30+ days on indeed.com, I clicked the link and applied online through their website. I received an email 2-3 weeks later asking to do a video interview, it had to be completed within 24 hours. 2 days later I got an email asking to set up a skype interview, which happened 2 days later. They said I would hear back within a week if they wanted me to move on to an in person interview. I heard back 3 days later that they chose someone else, via a phone call.
Overall, the HR person I communicated with and interviewed with was extremely professional and kind. I love this ministry. The video interview was 4 questions, and I got around 1-3 minutes to see the question before I had to answer and I got about 1-3 minutes to give my answer. The questions were: what would you say to someone who asks you how to be saved; what makes you an ideal candidate for this position; why do you want to work for SP; and what skills do you have as an office administrator (or the role you are applying for))?
The skype interview centered around you agreeing with SP's statements of faith and personal conduct policies. They ask you more faith based questions like when was a time God clearly called you or purposed you for something. Or about a time you witnessed God's sovereignty in your life. They did ask more job specific questions and how you would fill the role they are hiring for as well, but I didn't have time to write those down or remember! Since it is a Christian nonprofot, the HR are extremely nice and made me feel at ease the whole time.
