Isaac shares why he loves working at Sammons Financial Group.
The SFG’s member companies offer some of today’s most sought after life insurance, annuity, and retirement planning products. Unlike most financial organizations, our companies are not publicly traded, which means we’re focused on long-term value rather than short-term earnings pressures. As a privately held company, our leaders and employees remain consistently focused on long-term growth, making decisions that allow us to deliver on our commitments to customers, distribution partners, our employees, and our communities. Individually, our companies provide value in the products and services they offer. Together we represent a history of strength and longevity. What makes us distinct from other companies are the people who call Sammons Financial Group home and their ability to uphold the company's core values of Accountability, Openness, Respect, and Integrity.
We strive to make SFG a place where people don't just come to work, but come to grow, professionally and personally. SFG isn't a temporary stop on your career path. It's your career journey--reimagined. We're selective about who we hire because we're not looking to fill an open space with just anyone. We want people who are going to be a good fit for our culture, who will reflect our company values in the work they do, and who will grow with us for years to come.
Community Involvement - The people of SFG have caring hearts, and are actively involved in our communities. One by one, we are making a difference where we live and work. We step up to serve on boards, coach little league teams and serve as volunteer firemen. We lend a helping hand in times of natural disasters. We volunteer at soup kitchens, provide assistance to our youth and senior citizens, and support fundraising efforts for anti-violence programs.
In Chicago, we adopted a local school to provide better resources for the education of our youth. We worked alongside Mayor Rahm Emanuel and basketball legend, Isiah Thomas, to support Windy City Hoops, a city-wide basketball program that provides a fun, safe environment for at-risk teens in high crime areas. In Fargo, we help the elderly prepare their homes for the winter and participate in the building of an indoor riding arena for physically challenged children. We fill countless sandbags as the Red River floods its banks. In Sioux Falls, we help feed the hungry and volunteer to make Special Olympics a meaningful experience for participants. Hundreds of employees in Des Moines volunteered over 3,000 hours to local organizations like Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Iowa, United Way, Special Olympics, March of Dimes and many more, and won SFG a United Way Giving Award.
The list goes on. We are physically involved. We organize volunteer efforts through our businesses, and we volunteer independently. We spend our time and our money supporting the issues that we are passionate about to make our lives and communities better for our families and our neighbors.
Sammons Financial Group is a privately-held company, owned by Sammons Enterprises, Inc., an Employee Stock Ownership Plan company (ESOP). Because of our unique ownership, our employees are highly engaged in our business, focusing on long-term success rather than short-term earnings pressures. As an employee, the decisions you make have a real impact on the company's success. This can add to the value of your retirement as a participant in the ESOP and help you build your own future. Our culture and the Employee Stock Ownership Plan make us unique in the financial services industry.

Advice to Management
Keep up the great work. Communication is key though.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sammons Financial Group (Sioux Falls, SD) in July 2017.
The interview was a little scary at first because there was 4 people interviewing me at once. But as the process started it was pretty relaxed and fun. It wasn't so much of drilling questions but getting to know me and and my past work experience and maybe how I would react to certain situations.
