In Fargo, we help the elderly prepare their homes for the winter and participate in the building of an indoor riding arena for physically challenged children. We fill countless sandbags as the Red River floods its banks. In Sioux Falls, we help feed the hungry and volunteer to make Special Olympics a meaningful experience for participants. Hundreds of employees in Des Moines volunteered over 3,000 hours to local organizations like Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Iowa, United Way, Special Olympics, March of Dimes and many more, and won SFG a United Way Giving Award.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than 10 years)
Small company atmosphere, but provided with benefits that come with a larger company. ESOP is amazing and a real benefit here, not like it is at some other places where they say you get an ESOP, but it only equates to a couple hundred dollars per year. It comes with the small company atmosphere, but the company truly cares about you as an employee and the community. I've never worked for a company that offers as many volunteer opportunities as there are at Sammons. I've been with the company for over 10 years now and I can't think of any reason that I would want to change employers!!
I would like to have the ability to work from home, but that is something that is starting to be developed and implemented in other departments, so hopefully it will be an option for me soon.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sammons Financial Group (Sioux Falls, SD) in July 2017.
The interview was a little scary at first because there was 4 people interviewing me at once. But as the process started it was pretty relaxed and fun. It wasn't so much of drilling questions but getting to know me and and my past work experience and maybe how I would react to certain situations.
