Working at Samsung Electronics HQ provided great stretch opportunities rarely available at other organizations. Responsibilities were vast; sometimes discordant which could be an issue for someone looking for structure.
The top-down ultra-Korean approach to everything can be stifling and suffocating without a strategy. Being pro-active and finding allies is an absolute must. Unfortunately many non-Korean workers never really figured this out.
Advice to Management
To attract global talent, develop global teams that are outside of the strict Korean hierarchical corporate structure and use them as a best practice for traditional teams.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Samsung Electronics in October 2017.
First, short phone screener from HR. Second, 30+ minute interview with HR. Third, Phone Interview with Hiring Manager. The HR internal recruiter was switched up in-between interviews. They explained the position and the skills/attributes desired for the role.
