I have been working at Sandy Spring Bancorp part-time (More than a year)
Sandy Spring Bank is much more easygoing than compared to other banks. This is probably due to their size, but if you are looking at an entry-level job in retail banking (why?) then this is a good company. Benefits are nice, PTO for part time and many more benefits for full-time.
This is essentially a glorified retail job. While it seems obvious, I would reiterate that many times before you apply. SSB technology seems a little behind compared to larger banks, but that is to be expected. Referrals are still stressed like they are at any other bank, but they are not as high. Still, it is not an enjoyable measure of "performance".
Advice to Management
Focus on customer service, not referrals.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Sandy Spring Bancorp (Columbia, MD) in January 2017.
Very exciting. The Vice President was very impressed with my knowledgeability and professionalism. I rejected the offer after further consideration because I didn't want to do a 100% commission job.
