HISTORY

The company was founded by a group of entrepreneurs within the auto industry, including our CEO and president. The group gained experience working in finance in auto dealerships, and in 1995 left the dealership environment to start a new company focused on the finance side of the industry. As a non-originator, the new company marketed the auto finance programs of various banks, gaining valuable perspective on the auto originations process.

The success of the group caught the attention of FirstCity Financial and in 1998 our entrepreneurial partnership joined with FirstCity Financial to form FirstCity Funding, a nonprime auto finance company with a unique business model serving a niche market. We grew quickly and in 2000 our ownership group expanded to include HBOS plc., and FirstCity Funding officially became Drive Financial Services LP.

In 2004, FirstCity Financial sold its interest in Drive, shifting ownership to HBOS plc and Drive Management LP. The stability and strength of HBOS plc allowed Drive to surpass expectations and continue to grow at a rapid pace. In 2006, HBOS plc and certain members of Drive Management, LP sold their interest to Banco Santander S.A.

In 2009, Santander contributed its interest in the company to Santander Holdings USA Inc. (SHUSA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Banco Santander S.A. Prior to December 31, 2011, the company was owned by SHUSA and our CEO.

In late 2011, we completed a transaction whereby three leading private investment equity firms, Centerbridge Partners LP, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LP and Warburg Pincus LLC, through Sponsor Auto Finance Holding Series LP, purchased a portion of the company's stock.

In 2013, Santander Consumer USA launched Chrysler Capital auto purchase and lease financing program with the Chrysler Group LLC and integrated its subprime Drive brand into the main Santander platform. In 2014, SCUSA became a public company with a listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: SC) and launched HelpingLoans consumer finance brand.

2015 Medical Plans

Aetna is our medical carrier for 2015. Through Aetna, we offer a wide range of tools and programs to help enhance your coverage and improve the health of you and your family. All three plans provide in-network and out-of-network coverage with the Aetna Choice POS II network. No referrals are required for specialist care and the selection of a primary care physician (PCP) is optional.

2015 Dental Plans

Studies show that good oral hygiene can contribute to your overall health. That makes it more important than ever to get regular dental checkups. Delta Dental is our dental carrier for 2015. The Delta Dental Plans are designed to encourage good dental health, and we assist you by sharing some of the costs of dental services. This year we offer two options, an Enhanced Plan and Basic Plan. Both plans offer In-Network and Out-of-Network benefits. Using in-network providers offers the maximum cost savings. Delta Dental ID cards will be issued to associates who select dental coverage.

2015 Vision Benefits

SCUSA offers vision coverage for eye exams, lenses or contacts, and frames. Our vision carrier, VSP, offers a network of vision care providers representing both private practice as well as many large retail chain vision care providers. An Enhanced Plan is now available, in addition to the Choice Vision Plan. The Enhanced Plan features larger annual allowances for lenses and frames.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Two special spending accounts— the Health Care Spending Account and the Dependent Care Spending Account— make it possible for you to pay for eligible out-of-pocket expenses with pre-tax dollars. With the Health Care Spending Account, you decide how much to contribute per pay period tax-free, up to a maximum of $2,500 per year. You then use the money in your account to pay for eligible health care expenses not covered or reimbursable by any insurance. This includes plan deductibles, coinsurance, copays or uninsured expenses such as over-the-counter medications, glasses, contacts, or even Lasik surgery.

The Dependent Care Spending Account provides an opportunity for you to save money on day care expenses for eligible dependents by paying these expenses with pre-tax dollars. You decide how much to contribute, up to $5,000 per year.

White Glove Service

The WhiteGlove Health Membership Service comes to you at work or at home. Your sick visit includes medical care, generic prescription medications at no additional charge, if needed, and a medical consultation. House calls are making a comeback! All associates and their covered dependents enrolled in a SCUSA medical plan will have access to same-day medical care at home or work from a board certified nurse practitioner through WhiteGlove Health. Consultations are also available by phone with a board certified physician.
Our People are our greatest asset, and this is one more way that your SCUSA Benefits help you and your family get the quality care you need and at a low cost. WhiteGlove Health gives you convenient care and medication for a small copay of $25 co-pay.

Our team of mobile nurse practitioners will visit your home or worksite to provide acute care services or scheduled chronic condition management services that are traditionally sought at a doctor’s office, urgent care center or even an emergency room. In the event that a prescription is necessary, our nurse practitioners have the ability to prescribe them as part of your visit.

401(k) Plan

It’s never too late or too soon to start saving for retirement. At SCUSA, we make it an easy decision for you with our great 401k plan. SCUSA offers an employer match of 100% up to the first 6% you contribute. Even better, you are immediately vested in the plan. This means that all funds from the employer match are yours to keep from day one of eligibility. Both Roth and Traditional 401k options are available with company match. Through Fidelity, you will have a wide variety of great investment options to choose from to help secure your financial future.

The American Heart Association (AHA) recently recognized SCUSA as a Gold-level Fit-Friendly Worksite. As a place that offers associates physical activity support, increasing healthy eating options at work and promoting a wellness culture, we are honored to receive this recognition!

Requirements for Gold level achievement include implementing at least six of the physical activity criteria, two of the nutrition criteria and one of the culture criteria from the AHA.
