In 2013, ScaleFactor founder and CEO Kurt Rathmann was determined to find a solution for the accounting problems he was facing as a CFO. He was on a quest to automate the painful, time consuming accounting tasks he and his team were forced to complete manually. In 2014, Kurt started ScaleFactor at his living room table. The company grew from one to four employees before the year’s end.

Today, ScaleFactor’s intuitive software automates accounting, tax and finance tasks to save business owners time and money.     Pros

    ScaleFactor has surpassed every expectation I had of what working at a startup could be and the benefits it could provide.

    In my opinion, ScaleFactor is the gold standard for how a startup should operate and treat it's employees. They have given me every opportunity and guidance to allow me to grow as a professional and individual, allowing me to contribute in driving progress within and outside walls of my job description, and witness the direct results of my actions be implemented and appreciated.

    Due to our size, there is ample opportunity for advancement. There is no resemblance to the traditional corporate ladder that is rigid in requiring you to hit X years at this position, then X at the next, then X at the next to get where you want. If you are capable and prove it, you can create your own timeline.

    Every person that works here is talented, intelligent and driven towards the same goal, that's hard to find and extremely powerful when you are fortunate enough to experience this kind of synergy.

    The mission, the culture, the leadership, the experience and most importantly the people, are all reasons I can confidently say that taking the leap with ScaleFactor has been the best decision of my life.

    Cons

    Sometimes we run out of cold brew for an hour...

    But as a disclaimer (not a con), this company is for someone that is self-motivated, resourceful, and willing to adapt and work hard. It's hard to succeed here without those traits.

    Applied via Glassdoor. About 10 days later the TA rep reached out via email to set up a 15 minute initial screen call. She was very professional, friendly, and represented the company well. We figured out quickly it wouldn't be a good fit on some details related to seniority and both agreed to stop the process but keep in touch.
