On May 11th, 2018, Schellman & Company participated in their inaugural Day of Giving, an event that saw all their employees trade their normal work hours for volunteer shifts serving a number of selected charitable organizations and causes around the country.
“The time, energy, and dedication our employees—at all levels and all across America—demonstrates a genuine commitment to give back to the places we live and work. “
Avani Desai, Schellman President
Across 21 locations, including up and down the Eastern Seaboard, the west coast, and some states in between, 150 Schellman volunteers participated in the company’s first annual Day of Giving event, lending a hand to different areas of need within their local communities.
As a firm, Schellman looks forward to continuing their commitment to giving back to the neighborhoods where their employees live and work and doing what they can to help make the world a better place.

Our professionals average nearly ten years of professional services experience per individual, which is very uncommon in this industry. These team members are almost exclusively the alumni of Big 4 global accounting firms and tier one technology firms. The vast majority of our personnel held supervisory positions immediately prior to joining our company.
We place significant value in the demonstrated expertise of our professionals. As a result, every project team is comprised of experts in the area of accounting, auditing, information security and controls, and business process auditing. This expertise is demonstrated by our team members’ achievement of combinations of the following certifications:
By focusing on a specific set of interrelated services, our professionals provide relevant assurance and compliance services on a constant basis. It is common for any single member of our project team to have more individual project experience than entire teams of professionals proposed by our competitors. With an average experience level that exceeds 100 previously completed projects per individual, our personnel are among the most experienced in the industry.

I have been working at Schellman & Company full-time (More than a year)
I’ve worked at a couple of the Big 4’s who are supposed to have “top talent” but it wasn’t until I started working at Schellman that I felt part of a team that works together and supports one another. It’s not a rat race to the top; the majority of employees are incredibly intelligent and eager to help. The pay is wonderful and the bonus structure is very fair and rewarding. Who doesn’t enjoy quarterly bonuses?!
When I find a con I will update my review; until then Schellman is where it’s at.
Advice to Management
As we continue to grow, hang tight to our roots. It’s refreshing to be part of a company that truly cares for each of its employees and strives to grow and excel “the right way”. Keep it up.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Schellman & Company (New York, NY) in June 2018.
Initial phone screen
CTF game (24 hours, plus 24 for the report)
Technical Interview (panel)
It was extremely challenging to fit this interview process in a schedule if you are currently employed. It seems like this style is more suited for college students who don't have much experience.
The benefits package sounds nice on paper, but the 10% match doesn't occur right away. They also were unwilling to negotiate at all in an offer and hoped the unwritten promises of quarterly bonuses and company trips would make up for an offer below market rate. It would have been nice to have this information up front, especially since the firm seems unwilling to pay for top talent.
