    Engineering Manager Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Remote, OR

    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Schibsted (Remote, OR) in February 2018.

    Interview

HR touchpoint via phone + a Hangouts with 2 Product Managers.
Both were quite easy and the questions were very by the book. Everything answered without hesitation.
Mostly on the HR side of things, motivation, challenges, collaboration.
As I'm in the industry for almost 15 years, no fuss.
So I was surprised when they told me there would be no follow-up.
Reasons given after I asked were because I didn't show enough product orientation (5 industries, major companies, sure) and there was a lack in remote management experience (I always worked with remote managers and I even started an IT office in Spain, that should more than qualify. But I wasn't asked anything in this direction).
I got surprised to get rejected by people I'd normally hire, especially without being asked any tough question, I guess it's a very niche company.
