I have been working at Scholastic Book Fairs full-time (More than 10 years)
Supportive and caring atmosphere. Everyone shares the common goal to get more kids reading! Employees are also encouraged to read and the company gives everyone an extra 15 minute break specifically to read.
For sales, the commission plan gets changed occasionally when we start to hits goals easier and make more money. Opportunities for career advancement are limited unless one works for the corporate office in Florida.
Advice to Management
None. They do a great job of supporting employees, communicating and keeping it fun (for the most part).
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Scholastic Book Fairs (Los Angeles, CA).
Phone and in person local interview. Both interviews were pretty straight forward. Discussed my experience with Book Fairs and gave me more information as to the job expectations. The interviews happened rather quickly after I applied. The salary was discussed up front. Both interviewers were knowledgeable and friendly.
No salary negotiation, it was set. Hours are somewhat flexible since you set your own appointments so no negotiation was needed.
