These pros are based on the former management of Scott Kay, Inc where I was CMO. I can not rate the Pros presently, as I am not working with the company since the transfer of ownership. The pros were a very creative environment, consistent strong salary and benefits, strong brand ID and at that time, high-quality product, marketing and strong attention to detail. In addition, the firm had thousands of dedicated retail relationships with tier 1 or luxury retailers, such as Sajs Fifth Avenue, Traditional Jewelers, Tivol and many more.
Scott Kay, the former CEO and lead designer, who has now passed, was extremely demanding. While I took this as a plus, many employees had problems dealing with his methods to success. Since the company is now lead by another firm, the major con I have heard is the quality of the product may be suffering.
Advice to Management
Hire back the people you let go from Scott Kay. These numerous mid to high-level management individuals were carefully selected and groomed to source, produce, sell and market the product at a high standard. Without these people, the attempt to replicate the product and rebuild relationships will be very challenging.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Scott Kay (Teaneck, NJ) in June 2011.
Very easy - a recruiter found me. One interview with direct supervisor and her direct supervisor. Questions were about my previous experiences. Had just graduated, so spoke of part time jobs and internships. Received job offer within one week.
I had tried to negotiate through recruiter but they did not want to come up.
