    Software Engineer/Customer Support Interview

    Negative Experience
    Difficult Interview

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Seapine Software, Inc. (Mason, OH).

This was a few years ago but this experience is still fresh in my mind. Ironically, the HR person who is no longer there lacked people skills. He was unfriendly rude and looked for holes in everything I said. He even made it apparent he was checking the quality of my shoes at the interview. Nonetheless, he turned my interview with the panel into a combat Interview only focusing my flaws in my resume.

He told me to "be myself" several times prior to the interview which no one should ever do, and he also said he " does not want answers learned from an interview book" On the phone he would cut you off repeatedly.

When I first spoke to him, I caught him off guard and asked the salary range for the position. He said it was 40,000 to 45,000. He then asked what my last salary was so I said 35,000 which is true.

At the end of the several interviews with staff and VP, we sat in a conference room with no one else and he asked if an offer was made would I take it. I said I would if the compensation was right. He asked what I was looking for, and I said what you told me over the phone 40 to 45,0000. He then says, "I never said that" This job pays low 30,000. I stared him and said you told me 40,000 to 45,000 and I am certain. He said he doesn't remember because he talks to a lot of people. I didn't get the job, but I learned the HR guy soon departed.

As a whole, the company seems fine.
