Sensata Technologies – Why Work For Us?

undefined

The name Sensata comes from the Latin word sensata, meaning “those gifted with sense”. To complement our business and name, our logo is inspired by Braille, the writing system based on touch.

We are a rapidly growing $3 billion business with operations and business centers in 13 countries and over 20,000 employees worldwide, including 900 people in mostly engineering, business development and corporate support roles at our U.S. headquarters in Attleboro, MA.

We are the world’s leading supplier of sensors and controls across a broad range of markets and applications.

Our highly engineered devices satisfy the world’s growing need for safety, energy efficiency, and a clean environment. These are devices that improve safety, efficiency and comfort for millions of people every day and are used in automotive, appliance, aircraft, industrial, military, heavy vehicle, heating, air conditioning, data, telecommunications, recreational vehicle and marine applications.

Letter from CEO Martha Sullivan

Sensata's vision and an open invitation

Sensata is one of the world’s leading suppliers of sensing, electrical protection, control and power management solutions in a host of markets and applications ranging from automotive and appliance to aircraft, air conditioning and telecommunications. We impact the lives of millions of people every day by helping our customers provide safer, cleaner and more energy efficient products that people use every day at home, at work, and on the go as they travel from place to place.

Our employees are a big reason we are the successful company we are today. They have contributed in many ways throughout a long history of accomplishment that began in 1916 when the company that became Sensata was founded. For many years, we operated as an independent company called Metals & Controls. In 1959, we became part of Texas Instruments and, in 2006, we became a stand-alone company known as Sensata Technologies.

As we became Sensata, we spent some time defining what set us apart from other companies. These traits included impressive collaboration with customers, partners and each other; unwavering integrity; deep understanding of technology, markets and customers; and practical creativity focused on making our solutions more reliable, more efficient, and creating new ways to put our proven technology to work for customers. We became a publicly traded company in 2010 and have continued to build on this base as we expanded both our market leadership and global reach through on-going new product development and acquisitions.

Along the way, we have also spent considerable time thinking about what this means for employees and the value Sensata offers to those who work for us: growth through challenging work; leaders who inspire, coach and develop; world-class global teams and local decision-making and a culture where results and performance matter.

I hope this resonates with you. If so, please take the time to learn more about us and the career opportunities we offer. I think you’ll find that it is time well spent.

Best Regards,

Martha Sullivan,
PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

I have been working at Sensata Technologies full-time

    Pros

I have recently joined the team at Sensata Technologies. I noticed some job postings on Indeed which prompted me to seek more information about the company. I reviewed postings from LinkedIn and I was impressed with the video testimonials from the employees. When I was interviewing I received feedback from the interviewers that employees are empowered and encouraged to pursue further training and development. During the interviewing process all employees that I interacted with demonstrated professionalism, collaboration, and integrity. Two employees I interviewed with had been with the company more than 30 years, and one employee had more than 20 years of service. The interview process was efficient and fast with the employment offer two weeks after my application.

    Cons

I was not familiar with Sensata until I came across some job openings and began researching about the company. Sensata is a large employer that produces sensors and controls used in many different industries and applications. For such a prestigious and successful company the Sensata brand name should be more recognized.

    Advice to Management

Hold the course and keep sponsoring employee empowerment, learning and development.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sensata Technologies in May 2016.

    Interview

It was for an internship in Almelo, Netherlands, and consisted of two skype interviews-a technical with my manager, and another (more casual) with his boss to see if I would be a good fit.
