After realizing she couldn't find the 'perfect' home in the current housing market, Jamie and her husband decided to take on a few home renovation projects. They spent 11 years in their last house, so Jamie says, "When we got a fresh start in a new house, I really wanted to get started on making it feel like ours." Last summer, they purchased a house that checked their small list of non-negotiables, and they were ready to change what they didn't love about the home. They struggled to find a reliable contractor, pushing them to do more of the work themselves than they had anticipated. They spent a lot of time at home last year due to the shutdown, motivating them to make progress together during that time. This year, they added a pergola with a bar top and painted the home's entire exterior. The process was messy, and it took longer than expected, but they've had fun learning along the way. They've lived there for a year and a half and continue to find more things they want to do. Great work accomplishing your #peoplepoweredgoal Jamie!

Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?
