The SevOne story began with a desperate need for innovation. When the available network performance monitoring solutions no longer scaled to keep pace with the current size of networks, they set out to develop a product that could keep up with network growth. We built a patented Cluster architecture that uses distributed computing to peer appliances together as the network grows. The result – SevOne monitors enormously complex networks without having a bottleneck effect. So Vess Bakalov, Co-Founder and CTO, and Jim Young, VP of Architecture, worked long hours, late into the night, to build the SevOne solution. Eventually they moved into our first office space, “The Garage”, a garage behind a comic book store, in Newark, Delaware.

Over the past nine years, the company has seen huge success; growing from two employees to around four hundred, spread globally.

We are always looking to take infrastructure monitoring to a new level – which means always expanding our team. Our engineers constantly work on new features to continue delivering the best product in the industry; and our sales team is always looking for new customers that will benefit from SevOne’s innovation.

Along came SevOne, Engineered for Speed at Scale, purpose-built to replace legacy platforms incapable of intuitively and cost- effectively scaling to meet the demands of today’s infrastructures.

SevOne abandons the concept of a centralized database. Instead, it relies on a patented ClusterTM architecture built upon the concepts of distributed computing. A single, self-contained appliance —physical or virtual — handles data collection, storage, reporting, alerting and analytics. You can monitor up to200,000 objects using just this single appliance. Or, you can peer together several appliances to monitor millions of objects — all with no impact on the performance of the monitoring platform.

So what does “speed at scale” look like in a real situation? Here’s example: with SevOne, you can run a TopN report on most utilized interfaces across five million objects -- and still get results in less than five seconds. The threat of “too much data” will never slow you down.

Careers - Engineering

Our brilliant engineers and techies are consistently bringing cutting edge features to our product. We pride our development on their creativity and excellence. The Engineering teams are responsible for the continuous inspiration that goes into our product.

Teamwork is a big part of the lives of our engineers. Working in teams, such as the “Code Monkeys” and the “Data Daemons” allows us to bounce ideas off one another and form a community of teammates within SevOne.

Engineers at SevOne truly embody the work hard, play hard mentality. Their day-to-day activities includes both stimulating and creative coding as well as dart wars and video game tournaments.

Over the past few years SevOne has developed an exciting internship program, called S.M.A.R.T.S. (Start My Awesome Road to SevOne) College Program. Interning at SevOne involves real-life experience, a steep learning curve and a strong mentorship program. S.M.A.R.T.S. interns gain hands-on experience and their work feeds into important company projects – you won’t be serving your team coffee! We have a responsibility to teach and guide our S.M.A.R.T.S. interns. Our goal is to have them graduate from the program with a strong sense of accomplishment. For the duration of the program, interns develop leadership skills, gain real world experience, learn from management presentations and have an opportunity to network with the industry’s leading professionals. Because of this, SevOne only takes on the best of the best to develop into awesome professionals.

    Pros

    SevOne is a company on the move. With new technology and great customers, SevOne is positioned to take advantage of the huge changes in the technology infrastructure market. There is no doubt, our customers are once again turning to us for leadership in this rapidly evolving space.

    The best part about the company, however, is the team. The men and women who work at SevOne have developed a culture of working hard, and playing, as a team.

    And, It is great to see we are hiring once again!

    Cons

    Change is hard. There are a few individuals pining for the way the company was in 2012. It was fun, but that was the past.

    Advice to Management

    Keep pushing to lead the industry. We have the technology roadmap for success, let's stick to it. Reward teamwork, good attitudes, and innovation. Make our customers successful and the rest will sort itself out!
