I have been working at Shapeways full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fair compensation, great benefits, great work / life balance, and making a difference in the lives of entrepreneurs and businesses whose entire product relies on Shapeways production capabilities.

    Cons

    - Because there are three offices, there can be 3 separate company cultures that can feel siloed at times.

    - The company changed direction and has more of a small business emphasis now. This has been challenging for some people who joined the company before the change when the focus was a consumer marketplace.

    Advice to Management

Shapeways will be valuable to small businesses all over the world. Keep on taking the necessary steps to develop it into a thriving business: Continue to provide growth opportunities for employees, invest in innovative new technologies, and don't hesitate to continue initiatives that help move the company forward, even if it's different than how things were always done. Leverage company leaders to help empower teams inside shapeways.

    Community Manager Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Shapeways (New York, NY) in March 2015.

    Interview

This interview was brief and over the phone. It was a negative experience overall, and the company denied me the opportunity to work after recruitment via unconventional means over text at first, and then email and promising recruitment period. This was awkward and made brand-management less than optimal later, and more resources should be provided as follow-up to deal with this from a store-front perspective after dealing with awkwardness from their staff and a harsh interview approach which was void with various technical problems and unprofessional.
