New ideas, new innovations, new ways of thinking are fueling our future. At Shire, we ground everything we do in our purpose of enabling people with life altering conditions to lead better lives.
Honesty and transparency are inherent in all that we do as we work with a high sense of urgency to become a leading global biotech delivering innovative therapies to patients with rare diseases and other specialty conditions.
We are committed to attract, develop and retain top talent who take a responsible and ethical approach to all that we do and who want to make a difference in the lives of patients across the globe.
At Shire, we foster an environment that values innovation and creative thinking. This means going where others won’t go, with a willingness to try something different. Embracing change is a true hallmark of our history and culture, as we acquire and develop new strategic assets, evolve and transform our infrastructure, and attract and develop top talent for the future
We trust each other to make progress together, leveraging a true sense of urgency and a spirited determination to expand our global footprint. We encourage each other to take measured risks and collaborate in new and innovative ways.
The employees of Shire are passionate about patient outcomes. Most important of all, we get up each day with a belief in what we do. We thrive on the challenge of enabling people with life-altering conditions to lead better lives.
Shire is experiencing phenomenal growth as a specialty biopharmaceutical company. We have a strong track record of regulatory approvals, successful global product launches, and a robust pipeline of new drugs in various phases of development. It is our goal to further expand our global footprint and to continue to attract, develop, and retain top talent. Shire is moving opportunistically forward and you can come along.
Collaboration, experimentation, and a shared belief in our work is why Shire has seen such successful results. Not only are we pioneering new treatments for conditions like ADHD and ulcerative colitis, we’re creating innovative therapies for orphan diseases that affect small and otherwise overlooked populations.
Each day, the people of Shire go to work with an attitude of determination driven by the needs of the patients and specialists we serve. We speak out, make decisions, and stand by them, knowing that if we are not brave, nothing extraordinary will happen.
Positive change is the hallmark of our culture. That’s why we challenge each other to break away from typical pharma expectations. Everyone at Shire has the opportunity to make a real impact… and you can too.
Shire recognizes the importance of being able to provide our employees and their families with quality benefits as a part of their overall compensation package. Therefore, Shire has developed a comprehensive benefits package that delivers quality and value while satisfying the needs of our workforce.
All full-time employees regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible for benefits on their date of hire. Covered participants include the employee, spouse or domestic partner, and unmarried children to age 19 or age 25 if a full-time student.

I have been working at Shire full-time (More than 8 years)
Good team spirit and management, at least in my current orbit in Process Development. Good culture; profitable company with interesting and challenging work. Good compensation and benefits. My department management is good and supportive, and we work as one team. Resource planning is actively managed.
Currently re-organizing internally. Just had major layoff (in Vienna sections) and future events not known. So don't be surprised if departmental re-orgs happen.
I applied online. I interviewed at Shire (Exton, PA) in June 2017.
Met with 5 people back to back at the Exton, PA location for a total of 3 hours. 4 weeks and two follow-up emails and no response whatsoever from the internal Shire recruiter or any of the people that I met with. Very unprofessional. Leaving the interview, I was on the fence, but this has made me a solid "thanks, but no thanks" if and when I ever hear back from the company. They've recently moved into a building in Exton that used to be someone else's. It has low ceilings, almost no windows and row upon row of cubicles. It felt like a cave. It did make me appreciate my current employer and work environment more though, so I guess that's something positive.
