Discover an atmosphere that’s truly one of a kind … one that will energize your passion for your work and encourage your growth. One where you’ll work closely with physicians, nurses and allied health professionals who — like you — care deeply about others and put their heart and soul into advancing the quality of care. And one that invests in you as a person as well as a professional … and is as rich in opportunity as it is in personal satisfaction.

This is Sibley Memorial Hospital, a close-knit and highly sophisticated community hospital in the heart of our nation’s capital. Join us and discover the true nature of caring. The community that defines us is filled with people who place a high value on excellent medical care. They know what is considered best practice and they are prepared to go anywhere to get it. Time and again, they stay right here. They have their babies at Sibley. They come for orthopaedic work, for pain management, for a complete range of cancer services, for a wide range of surgeries and — of course — for emergencies.

At Sibley Memorial Hospital, we not only care for a community, but we also are a community of dedicated individuals with unique talents and skills. We believe that collaboration is a key contributor to clinical excellence. In addition to interacting during daily rounds, members of our interdisciplinary team often work side by side and make decisions together, while also involved in a variety of projects. By considering all perspectives, we are able to address the multifaceted needs of our patients and provide a level of care that continually exceeds expectations.

The value we place on each person and the respect we share for one another has evolved into a feeling of family. Like family, we lend a hand when needed, celebrate individual and group achievements and support each other’s goals.

I have been working at Sibley Memorial Hospital full-time (More than a year)

Brand new hospital, state of the art equipment , Doctors are generally easy to work with and communicate with, Great sense of team work among nursing staff. Many very experienced nurses that are willing to help newer nurses learn.

Many of the patients are very rich and privileged and expect to be waited on or given special treatment
Patient acuity is not very high
Since bought out by Johns Hopkins nurses are floated and furloughed frequently to avoid calling in extra staff and paying overtime, became very very money oriented.

    Advice to Management

better nurse patient ratios= better patient care= better scores= you will get your money back

I applied online. I interviewed at Sibley Memorial Hospital (Washington, DC) in August 2016.

I applied online and a week later received an email to interview. I was given a few options for times. They did advise it will be an hour long interview.
You meet with HR and then they take you to the manager of the department.
After your interview with them and if they want to move forward; the manager will give you a tour of the unit and then go back to HR.
