I have been working at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co part-time (Less than a year)

The people at the Sierra Nevada Taproom are a unique crew, and work well together.
The facilities are beautiful, and very well maintained.
Great perks for part time workers, including discount in the gift shop and opportunities to get free cases of beer!
The management is flexible with scheduling, so maintaining a set weekly schedule is possible, as long as you're willing to vary shift times (AM vs. PM)
The cut of tips shared by Taproom Support is almost always large enough to bring the low base-pay to a reasonable hourly wage.

The work is extremely strenuous. This place is like a restaurant on steroids, so busy days can keep you moving, lifting, and stooping for 8-10 hours.
Schedules are sometimes posted as late as 36 hours before the week begins, meaning you may not know Monday's schedule until Saturday afternoon or so.

    Difficult Interview

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co (Chico, CA) in October 2016.

I was found through an external recruiting firm. After a pretty rigorous screening by the firm, I interviewed with the hiring manager and HR director via video conference. Then, I was set up for a full day of interviews on-site. The interviews themselves were pretty straightforward, but they were testing as much (maybe even more) for cultural fit.

Ultimately, I didn't get an offer because they decided to fill the role internally. While I was really disappointed because I felt that I poured my heart and soul into the process and interviewed well, it was such an enjoyable process that I cannot really hold it against them. It's clear that they treat their own VERY well.

    Interview Questions

    • 1. What processes do you have to help our innovation strategy?
      2. What business problems tend to keep you up at night?
      3. How do you manage people? What is your style?

(Overall, they aren't trying to 'trip you up.' Rather, does your style mesh w/the company culture, while still having the ability to be a 'change agent.').
