I have been working at Sightline Media Group full-time (More than 5 years)
Improving company culture, great and fun colleagues, digital emphasis, management cares about our markets and brands. Wave of new talent coming in without baggage from past. Generally flexible work conditions. Commitment to journalism and integrity. Optimism about future.
Parent company hordes cash for other acquisitions and needs to pay bills and expenses more timely. Laptops and office equipment are antiquated and broken. Most people from the TEGNA/Gannett days with negative attitudes have left but a handful cling on. There is no HR person.
Advice to Management
Keep in transforming the business but invest in better technology. Keep going digital and bringing in new talent. Get parent company to pay bills on time and learn the business better.
I applied online. I interviewed at Sightline Media Group (Cincinnati, OH) in February 2015.
Passed initial phone interview and a time and date was set for an in person interview, without my input as to the time and date. When I expressed concern that I may not be able to make the date and time that was set without any input from me, I was told my resume had been withdrawn from the applicant pool. Thank goodness - because I would never want to work for a company that sets meetings prior to consulting the other party about the time and date.
On Monday, March 21st, Sightline Media Group was acquired by Regent Companies, who owns and operates companies in media, digital technology and retail sectors.
On Monday, June 29th, Gannett (former parent company) separated its publishing business from its digital business with the formation of TEGNA. With this split Gannett Government Media was chosen to follow TEGNA's digital venture, officially becoming Sightline Media Group (A TEGNA company).
