I worked at Singapore Airlines Cargo full-time (More than 8 years)
1 FOC ticket a year to any SQ destinations. For SIA Cargo, the FOC ticket is on subload basis. If you are unlucky, you may ruins your travel plan.
Promotion is almost impossible nowadays if you are not in the right group with the right people. People who are close to the senior management will get a higher chance to be promoted or posted to overseas stations. Overseas posting is very limited in SIA Cargo. You have to wait for a long time and still not sure whether you are on the right path for overseas posting. Generally, you do not have a clear direction of your career path. Management will just rotate you to any departments that are lack of resources or they think it is right for you. You can state your preferences of job rotation, but doubt they will look at it. The appraisal system is just for show and totally a waste of time.
Advice to Management
Do not always blame the market condition for poor company performance. Look at what your sales team has done, do you even have a clear direction for them? Listen to staff opinion at all levels but not only the managers. Please engage the AO and Gen Staff directly to know what they think about this company to avoid losing more capable employees.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Singapore Airlines Cargo (Singapore (Singapore)) in June 2016.
First Interview with HR manager and Department Manager. Basically they will explain the job scope and ask if you are interested in the job. They explain career progression is slow, as it might take more than 5 years to get a promotion. After first interview, then proceed for a 45 min essay.
