I have been working at Skanska USA Building full-time (Less than a year)
The DC group is definitely on the up. Recent hires have been plentiful but very beneficial to the momentum of the office. Projects are interesting and challenging. Great use of incorporating technology and modern building techniques. Work life balance is very fair so far. They really do value employees, safety and their strong morals.
Big corporation, so red tape, politics, etc. come with the territory. Foreign owned- Take that as you will, but the Europeans are definitely ahead of us in many ways and it helps to have this tie to the business on an international scale. Lots of new hires from engineers up through management.
Advice to Management
Keep up the good work and don't let the positive energy slip away. Continue to staff jobs as needed; under-staffing will always come back to bite you. I like the work we are chasing and we have struck a good balance with niches in areas of previous success (education for instance) as well as keeping a diverse portfolio (government, commercial, etc.)
I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Skanska USA Building (Seattle, WA).
I interned with Skanska so my transition from an intern and PE role didn't really have an interview. My internship interview was through a panel. The panel was very welcoming and was really just trying to get the feel of your personality and thought process.
