Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sledgehammer Games (Canada)

    Interview

Within a couple days of applying directly I was contacted by an in house recruiter. The recruiter worked with me through the process from start to finish, very friendly and helpful. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and deeply experienced / knowledgeable. - 30 minute intro call with recruiter - mostly general stuff about the company - 30 minute screening call with hiring manager - more info about the role, make sure I'm interested in the role and that I'm a fit for what they're looking for - 2x 1 hour group interviews back to back (with a break between) - one focused more on technical skills, one focused more on soft skills Shortly after the final interview I was verbally offered, followed by the formal written offer 1 or 2 days after. The whole process took roughly 1 month from when I applied to the end, very efficient process. I was told the time it takes for the finalization between verbal and written offer depends on which location you're applying to and whether you're local or remote. No art test, senior level.

In honor of #AAPIHeritageMonth, we'll be using our platform to spotlight some of our talented developers at Sledgehammer Games. Today, we're highlighting Associate VFX Artist, PO-KUAN WU! "When I was young, I wanted to be a 3D animator. After college, I became more interested in CG rendering. Then I decided to take the Master's program at the Academy of Art, as I finally found myself making visual effects. I graduated right before the pandemic, and all the opportunities closed as I was interviewing for internships. At the time, the only thing I could do was keep learning new skills online and wait. Just before I booked a ticket back home to end my journey in the US, Sledgehammer Games sent me an e-mail and lighted my career path."

Through #WomensHistoryMonth, we'll be celebrating the talented women of our studio by showcasing their stories, causes that matter to them, and the women that inspire them. Today we celebrate Software Engineer, Darcy S.! "I’m a software engineer on the audio engineering team. I decided I wanted to make games when I was a kid. I even knew that what course I wanted to do and the University I wanted to go to. My University offered a program where you could work full time for a year and through that I got my first programming job at a manufacturing company that built CNC machines. I started my first games job as a programmer at a small indie studio in Melbourne. While I enjoyed indie I always wanted to work in AAA. I joined SHG Melbourne in November 2019. When I started I was asked if I wanted to try Audio Engineering, which I had never done before. I said ‘why not?’ and I’ve been doing it ever since."
