The strength of SlideBelts is not in our innovative products - the true strength of this company is our team of people who make it happen on a daily basis. At SlideBelts, we focus on what matters most: the people. From there, everything else falls into place.
Company culture is of the utmost importance to us: we work hard and we play hard, we invest in our employees, both personally and professionally, and we ensure that everyone has a voice that is heard just as clearly as the next person. We’re endlessly dreaming up new ideas, continuously pushing the envelope and forever moving forward.
At SlideBelts, our employees are known as “Criosadairs”, or crusaders. This word - Criosadair - is an ancient Gaelic title for one who makes belts.
In modern days, a belt is a seemingly straightforward fashion afterthought used primarily for one simple purpose. However, in the primeval times of Criosadairs, belts were universally recognized as a symbol of a righteous bond or virtuous oath.
These earliest societies didn’t deal in terms of the complicated contracts or affidavits that we use today because those who wore belts indicated exactly who was an honorable and trustworthy individual, someone whose word was both their oath and binding contract.
For this reason, being a Criosadair isn’t just a job title, but a way of living.
At SlideBelts, the art of belt making is no trivial charge - from quality to innovation and ideation to creation, we are endlessly proud of the products we make. We strive to live out daily what it means to be a Criosadair through honor, integrity and a dedication to the consistent execution of the small details to create a flawless, stylish and innovative product.
While we believe that our awesome company culture and the many ways in which we invest in our employees put us over the top, here are a few more company perks if you’re not convinced just yet:
Still not sure? Perks and all the days off aside, here are our top five reasons to work at SlideBelts:
1. Endless opportunity for growth and advancement - both personally and professionally.
2. An awesome company culture that actually makes you excited to come to work - revolutionary idea, huh?
3. Work with a team of energetic and passionate people - we are enthusiastic about what we do, we are driven to continue innovating and pushing the envelope and we represent the Criosadair title with pride.
4. SlideBelts University - earn monetary rewards for reading any of the books in our SBU Library; make some extra cash while reading important books that will profoundly impact your mindset.
5. Work in an environment where every idea is valued - we throw everything against the wall and we go with whatever sticks; not only are all ideas welcomed, they’re both expected and encouraged.
I have been working at SlideBelts full-time (More than a year)
With its laid-back environment and open floor plan, SlideBelts is more like a college common area than an office. We have unlimited Paid Time Off, monthly company paid lunches, monthly chances to win cold hard cash, regular ping-pong games, Oculus Rift in the break room, paid lunch hour, regular fun days like Lazer Tag in the office, and being paid for reading certain books in the SlideBelts University to name a few of the perks of working here.
Well, the only thing I can think of is that for my specific job, I physically have to go into the office. This is quickly changing with all the different ways to telecommute and work from home.
Advice to Management
The only advice I can think of is as we start to grow, we need to make sure to keep the same company culture. That is what attracted me to this company. The culture here is very different, and very open to new ideas. As we start to acquire more employees, keeping this culture will be key, as I would hate to see something so cool become just another company.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at SlideBelts (El Dorado Hills, CA) in March 2017.
Surprised to hear the negative reviews about the interview process - I thought it was a pretty straightforward and intuitive ordeal! The atmosphere is very laid-back/casual, so it's a great environment for someone who is naturally conversational. There were a few of your typical interview questions about past jobs, what you liked/didn't like, etc. but the bulk of the questions are set up in a way that helps your personality shine through; in my opinion, it's refreshing to see a company like SlideBelts put a premium on personality and cultural fit so early in the interview process. Courtney, the HR manager, was very open and willing to answer my questions, some of which were pretty tough for someone put on the spot. All in all, it felt more like a conversation between peers rather than the shameless grill sessions that interviews tend to devolve into, and it speaks volumes about the company culture you'll find at SlideBelts.
To be honest, I'm not sure if I got the job just yet (I received an email saying I should hear from them within a week), but I truly believe that the results of an interview should have no bearing on the actual interview process itself. For my type of personality, this was a fun, engaging experience, and I'm of the opinion that more interviews should be held this way. Good stuff!
