The store has good ambiance, with dim lighting and mellow music. I wasn't asked to sell aggressively, although I was supposed to encourage purchases.
The pay was low. When I was hired, I was asked how much I expected to earn, and then paid that amount, although I later discovered that the other sales associates earned two dollars more an hour. At barely more than minimum wage, every dollar counts.
The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Smith & Hawken (Oxford, OH) in January 2009.
Total waste of time, they hire just about everyone. If you can remember a time where you were proud of something that you did or a time where you convinced somone to do something than you will get the job. Easy as that.
