Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

Pros

Really nice workspace. Given basically anything you need to succeed (Snacks, Bose noise cancelling headphones, stand up desks, etc.) Management gives younger people a chance to grow and gain

Cons

There's a lot to learn in the beginning and there's not a clear training method. When you get an upset customer, they can be very hostile. Its hard to console them or know what to do when we can't

Advice to Management

Being in the alcohol monitoring market, I wish there was a way to get more positive feedback from customers. I know the company does a good thing and helps restore people's lives, but we don't always
