I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Socionext (Santa Clara, CA) in Mar 2020

Applied for the position through a LinkedIn post. The Hiring manager reached out within a week to explain about the position and requirements. The interview had three rounds. Round one was a phone screen with the hiring manager in which my education and past experience was discussed along with brief introduction of the company. Round two was an on-site technical interview with the team, HR and the hiring manager in which there was a discussion about my resume and some questions about the fundamental embedded system concepts and whiteboard coding. Round three was again an onsite interview with senior management and president of the company. The experience was positive and professional and I had a good time discussing my background and solving questions.

Some bit manipulation questions and Queue operations.

Company Updates

April 7, 2021
April 7th, 2021 – Socionext has partnered with ZiFiSense and Techsor to develop a next-generation ZETA LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) wireless communication technology standard that incorporates the “Advanced M-FSK modulation” method suitable for IoT applications. The three companies have finalized specifications of the new standard and will conduct demonstration tests aiming for practical uses and its commercialization. The "Advanced M-FSK modulation" achieves 20x faster transfer rate with a sensitivity improvement of 10 dB or more compared with conventional ZETA. Socionext plans to prototype a communication SoC compatible with the new standard by March 2022 with mass production scheduled to begin by the end of 2022. It will feature Socionext's unique RF, digital modulation and demodulation technology which provides special encoding processing such as error correction and multi-level modulation with low power consumption.

March 9th, 2021 – Socionext and three other companies, MIRAIT Corporation, MMD inc., NURI Telecom Co. Ltd., are working together to jointly conduct a test verification using a compact PoC system equipped with a next-generation long-distance power line communication LSI developed by Socionext. Using existing power lines for communications between devices eliminate the need for dedicated communication networks to achieve remote and automatic control of systems through the use of technologies in IoT and AI.
