Sogeti and Capgemini Careers
Working for a consultancy means that you can gain a huge amount of experience in a short space of time as you can work on multiple customer sites each year, in different industries and using different tools, methodologies and processes. As part of the Capgemini Group, there are infinite opportunities to work on exciting projects, develop your career, hone your skills and learn from your colleagues.
We invest heavily in career progression, and offer our consultants a structured career path whether you are seeking software testing jobs, a role in DevOps, or a Sogeti career in High Tech Engineering. Following the acquisition of QBIT and Vizuri in 2008, Sogeti remains renowned for training. We offer our staff free industry recognised training courses such as Agile Certified Tester, Prince2, ISTQB Foundation to Advanced, and we encourage participation in Capgemini’s well-established University program. This investment means there are also frequent promotion opportunities.
Innovation and New Technology
In the UK, Sogeti has a privileged relationship with Microsoft, HPE, IBM, SmartBear, TestPlant and Black Duck, and we have many more global alliances through the Capgemini Group. This gives us great exposure to new technologies, and allows us to respond quickly to changing IT environments. We’re also helping numerous customers with their transition to a DevOps philosophy and we utilise market leading tools and the best Open Source technologies on the market to do this.
An Ethical Employer
Sogeti Group is committed to acting responsibly towards society and the world at large. We strongly believe that, by leveraging our IT expertise and the commitment and skills of our 20,000 employees, we can bring about change. In the UK, we run a varied CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program that enables staff to get involved, give something back to society, and have fun in the process.
Inclusion and Diversity
We are convinced that inclusion and diversity brings more innovation and more value to our company. We currently have colleagues from over 20 nationalities working at Sogeti UK. We are aware that mostly men choose IT for a career but we strive to be an attractive employer for women. That is one of the reasons why Sogeti Nordics started the Women Innovation Network IT and it currently has more than 2700 members in 15 different locations.
Sogeti’s seven core values are Honesty, Boldness, Team Spirit, Trust, Freedom, Modesty, and Fun. I have been working at Sogeti full-time (More than 8 years)
Sogeti is very focused on growing the individuals who are also willing to invest in themselves. As long as you are putting in your own effort to grow your skills, and satisfy the clients, they will provide the opportunities for you. I think too many people get stuck on the idea that a company should give all the opportunities to everyone, but Sogeti tends to match the effort and energy the individual puts into their career. There is also a large variety of activities and opportunities within the company depending on where you are (location and experience).
- Reasonable Pay (location, level, and drive dependent)
- 401k matching @ 150%
- Generous PTO
- Yearly Trips for top performers (Hawaii, Aruba, St. Thomas, etc)
- Performance Bonus Plan (Or Comp Plan for some positions)
- Low premium on Insurance
Through my time at Sogeti, I have grown from a developer, through team leadership, Architecture, Client partner, and even national solution architect. I have been able to switch roles any time I wanted by having a conversation with management, and putting in the effort to learn the new role/technology/skillset/etc.
- You need to be in charge of your work life balance: It's Typical of Consulting.
- You need to manage your own growth. Promotions and opportunities are not given without your effort
- Sometimes without a good people network, it can feel like you are isolated from the exciting projects.
- Clients sometimes think that we are disposable resources they can try to abuse: It's Typical of Consulting.
Advice to Management
We are a technology company with a LOT of great projects done for our clients. Sometimes we should turn those skills inward so we are more cutting edge internally than our clients providing examples and learning experiences for consultants.
Let's also remember that sometimes clients ARE wrong, and we need to be willing to walk away from projects when the client is harming consultant morale. Thankfully thats not common, which means we should be MORE willing to do it
I applied online. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Sogeti.
Phone interview. Went very well but lasted a little long for a phone interview.
