Mission: Solution Tree's vision is to advance the work of our authors and our vision is to transform education worldwide to ensure learning for all.
For Solution Tree employees, the job isn’t just a job—it’s a commitment to help others. Our business model features three distinct elements: educational publishing, events, and professional development, all designed to help teachers, principals, school boards, and administrators do their very best. This passion for our purpose inspires everyone at Solution Tree to give their maximum effort every day. But we know that work-life balance is important. When the workday is done, employees head home satisfied that they’ve made a difference.
“Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life,” the saying goes. At Solution Tree, doing what you love is part of every day. Our Press uses a double-blind review process and meticulous editorial standards to ensure that our books are of the highest quality. Our professional development team works with authors and consultants, booking more than 4,000 speaker engagements a year. Our events team organizes dozens of high-quality institutes and workshops for educators across the country and around the world. Supported by sales, marketing, finance, customer service, and technology specialists, team members find plenty to love in each day’s activities.
Stability is important in an uncertain economy. In a time when more and more employers are making do with less and less, Solution Tree is committed to profitable growth. For our employees, this means competitive salaries, raises, employer-subsidized insurance, a strong 401(k) program, family benefits, paid holidays and vacations, and generous bonuses. Company retreats and departmental lunches with the CEO add to the benefits.
Solution Tree employees are part of a community. We frequently offer our time to worthwhile causes like Habitat for Humanity, and all employees are invited to spend one workday each year as a paid day of service for a qualifying local organization. Our internship program gives high school and college students the experience of working side by side with staff—and pays them for their efforts. Employees are invited to attend our professional events and encouraged to apply for positions throughout the company, to keep them challenged and engaged.
Our Bloomington, Indiana headquarters is a beautiful place to work, located in the historic Showers Brothers Furniture administration building. This two-story glass-and-brick structure once housed the manufacturer that made more than 60% of all the furniture in the United States. Today, the property is in the center of an expanding tech park, walking distance to downtown stores and restaurants, the B-Line hiking trail, and Indiana University. Employees enjoy free parking next to the building, and on pleasant days, team members can be found on the building’s rooftop patio, enjoying an outdoor lunch or a department gathering.
I worked at Solution Tree full-time (More than 3 years)
I really loved working here! This was my first job out of college and it taught me so much about what I want in a workplace. I found it such an inspirational place to work with people who really care. From the owner, Jeff Jones to the other upper management, it really felt like they cared about their people and the company. I also got to travel a lot which was a great way to see the country. I would go back in a second if I still lived in Bloomington.
I don't have many cons, the only thing I can think of is that I wish they hired remote employees so I could come back. This really was the best company I have ever worked for! The only reason I left is because I moved out of state for personal reasons.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Solution Tree (Bloomington, IN) in August 2016.
I had a telephone interview with the HR Manager. Upon completing that interview, we scheduled an GoToMeeting with the hiring manager. The interview was very professional and I really enjoyed learning more about the company and position. We scheduled an in-person interview with the Director and another employee from that department. Although it was a long process, it was very professional.
